Linking Xbox account

We have an Xbox account and want to link that account to a Microsoft account. Mainly, the issue is I redeemed a $25 gift card on this Microsoft account and it says I can't use it when I enter the code into the Xbox account because it has already been redeemed.

I would like to be able to log into the Microsoft account as our Xbox login. Seems like it should be easy but doesn't appear to be! Thanks for any help.

xbox live wont accept my billing information

Hi Dman2689!

You could also try linking your card and billing information to a PayPal account, and linking this one to your XBOX.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to transfer balance from your Microsoft account to your Xbox Live account. You can change the Microsoft Account associated with your Xbox Live account with steps in

Microsoft accounts (regardless of the email host you use) are what are used to log into an Xbox account.

If your Xbox Account is an offline account (which on the 360 the ability to create a local account was possible), you would need to make that offline account an online account by using the Microsoft account (provided it's not already tied to an Xbox gamertag.

If the Xbox account is already an online account with Microsoft account attached to it, then no, you will not be able to merge the 2 accounts together. Nothing can be transferred between accounts so any rewards earned on one account are locked to that account.

Yes, you should be able to do that via your Microsoft Account management page.

This support article here has all the details on

switching the primary email of your Microsoft Account.

It would basically be adding the account to your Microsoft Account as an Alias, and promoting it to the primary account, then removing the other email address. I would recommend following the steps very closely so as not to get anything jumbled.
