    Limited Run/Hard Copy games

I really like what the company Limited Run is doing, bringing digital copy only games to hardcopy disc. Unfortunately, Sony is the only one who has signed on and agreed to this, Microsoft and Nintendo haven't yet. That's a shame, I grow more and
more tempted to toss my Microsoft products out the window. We the consumers control the companies, we can and will backlash, Microsoft you have witnessed that with the pre-launch ideas for Xbox One. Greed is wrong, and there's always bad karma waiting and
lurking around the corner to bite you in the butt, no matter who you are. Granted Microsoft isn't the only greedy company out there, with the constant nickel and diming, gimmicks and ways to control, just to get into our wallets. Anyways, I totally support
Limited Run, and I think it would be a wise choice for Microsoft to sign on with them. Not only am I collector of physical copies that I can hold in my hand and not be taken from me, I know there are a lot more gamers out there like myself. Example, years
ago I bought Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles The Arcade on Xbox Live for the Xbox 360. What happened to the game I bought? It was taken off of Xbox Live, not that it was Microsoft fault, I believe it was due to a change of who had rights to the TMNT franchise.
Ever since, I haven't been a huge fan of the digital game revolution, granted it does have some perks to it. Long live hard copies, Game ON! Limited Run Games

still looking for mass effect 1

I got my first copy of Mass Effect with my 360.

The second I bought because the first had developed a crack at the centre of the disc.

Next came the third copy on the PC.

Fourth copy was the Platinum Hits/Classics Edition so I could get a hard copy of Bring Down the Sky.

Games on Demand provided the fifth copy, I bought it so I could protect my hard copies.

Lastly I found a copy of the Limited Edition of the game for £10, so i snapped that up.

you do realise when you own the physical copy you own the plastic and that is it, the software on there can at anytime be revoked as you still purchased a licence to play said software. physical discs and digital are virtually the same when it comes to
rights and licences, it was just more difficult to revoke using a hard copy, these days they can if needed. eventually everybody will have to go digital as eventually there will be no brick and mortar stores to sell the games and hardware and online stores
    would sell digital codes only.

You are fighting an uphill battle and will lose, just use either format for now and enjoy gaming.

I would get a Sony then. Because this isn't going to happen.

Physical media is dead or soon will be.

Well I'm not sure if this will gain any traction but posting this in the Feedback Forums will definitely get the Xbox's team attention. I understand your frustrations with where the gaming industry seems to be going and the only way to get your point across
is to use the proper and valid channels to do so.

You can post your idea here or vote for ideas you want to see Xbox implement here Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice

    Cheers!

  7. There is something to be said for hard copies. Like dcKILLSWITCH says, digital stuff is sometimes pulled. Recently they pulled Forza Horizon from the store too. Though you can download it if you'd bought it previously, it's somewhat frustrating to see things
pulled like that. Also some people just like having cases. I buy the majority of my PC games physically, even though I never even use the discs themselves, just enter the code on Steam and download the digital. Having that physical connection, something you
can literally touch, is important to some people. Now, personally I wouldn't care if it were just a code in a box. Others like the actual discs. Even movies I prefer to buy on BluRay, Though there is something to say about the quality of a BluRay over streaming
    movies.

I know that the profit margins on games are pretty tight. And I understand that money needs to be made to pay the programmers and all the equipment and so on. I'm pretty comfortable with them taking a stance against the pre-owned market and piracy. But what
ever route they do take, I really hope that they keep some sort of physical option. Even if that physical copy is tied to your account once it's used, that's fine. I do despise the big companies that are making huge profits on the pre-owned market like CEX etc.
I don't mind the little independent shops getting by on used games, particularly as they seem to operate more in the retro market than in the current generations. Plus they are always genuinely keen gamers, rather than people you'll forget in 10 minutes. Anyway,
    back to the point.

Think about it like this, you go to your favourite restaurant, order your food, then they coms along and put a tube down your throat and pour the blended meal straight into your stomach, then charge you a little more for the convenience. To some people,
taking of that shrink wrap, opening the case sifting through the manual and other little flyers is all part of the experience. Putting that disc in for the first time, reading every inch of the case on the bus home. That all might sound trivial to many, but
for some it's like eating that meal. Having it taken away, not having that case on your shelf, having that manual to look at when you waiting for the updates, all that stuff does have meaning to some people.

I guess what I'm trying to put forward here is that no one is wrong, but I'm only 35 and in that time things like having a local butcher, grocer, baker, newsagent, all different shops with different owners, knowing all the customers back when I was a boy.
It's kind of a similar experience. Nowadays, you go to one massive shop that has it all, you're served by a fresh face every time you visit. It's not the same experience as it once was, some prefer it, but I find it too sterile and isolating.

All in all, people are going to have that longing for the physical copy, whereas others can for go that particular experience and just jump straight into the game. But "Get used to it!" isn't going to make them suddenly go "Sorry, what was I thinking?"

You do realise that you can still play the game don't you? just because its no longer on the store, you still own the licence to play it, that can never change. Even if you delete the game from your 360, you can still
re-download it because the game is still on the store (its just hidden)
