Liking the new friends section

October update just dropped I really like the new friends section but can see the leader board taking up half my life trying to stay at the top lol

I went into the section of "Refer a Friend, Get Rewarded" was liking the sound of it, went to try it and it said "Sorry about that...

It looks like you're not eligible for this offer. Our bad" I'm really just wondering why I'm not eligible.

I'm liking my X1, excited to see some exclusives for the console, what im not liking is non of my friends purchased one

 

Just finished downloading it, it's Thursday 10:05 pm for me.

What happened to avatars though? I like how they added a Friends tap to the Dashboard. It's kind of like the SOCIAL tab on Xbox 360's Dashboard but of course, it's missing avatars and that Windows 8 style UI really sticks out. If you want to see you and
your friends avatars you have to go to the Avatar App on the Dashboard. But it's good they added another tab.

Now all I'm waiting for is Voice Messaging "Xbox Live Feature" and Change the Dash Background "Xbox Live Feature.

 

Avatars are a thing of the past, they're useless on the Xbox One, just like the reputation system. Still no voice messaging, can't purchase gamerpics, can't purchase themes or different colors for dashboard, etc. It's improving but there are still a lot
of little things that are missing. I prefer the 360's dashboard to the Xbox one's dashboard right now.

 

Avatars while minimal on the XB1, are NOT a thing of the past (at least not yet). The reputation works just fine too. As for voice messaging, it's a popular feature that many people have asked for on the Xbox feedback site, so it will likely come at some
point. As for themes and other things for the dashboard, those are already on the way - Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox said so himself. Don't worry, all good things come with time.

 

Just plugged in my 360 for the first time in a month.

Why is the 360 still so much better than the one? It's been 11 months...

 

Because my friends would have to ask their parents if they're allowed one, they may not have the money.

Xbox 360 is really cool millions are still on it. The UI is much more familiar and youth friendlier compared to the Windows 8 style which M took with Xbox 1 which looks like it would suit a business person more. Despite that I love Zoo Tycoon Minecraft Project
Spark and Forza Horizon 2 and that I get better video quality on Xbox 1 compared to Xbox 360 because of the better GPU, Only 13 of my friends have an Xbox 1. It feels like when I first joined Xbox late 2010 with not that many friends.

I like it how they've added a Friends tab. It's similar to the Social tab on the Xbox 360. I'm glad they've kept avatars though. Don't want anymore missing Xbox Live Features. On Xbox 360 I have a full friends list and know 95% of them because I've played
or talked to them. I've accepted 3 friend requests from Xbox 1 players 2 were random one was from the Zoo Tycoon forums another is some guy because of Minecraft on this forum. And another from Cloud because when he was mod I said on the forums wow it's mid
April and no one! has sent me an April Fools Joke, you know, it's Microsoft's birthday.

 

I dig the new functionality of the Friends section, but miss the original location. All that new stuff could have been added inside that box. Ah well.

One new thing I'd like to see, is an easier way to compare friends' scores/achievements on particular games. Right now, you still have to dig a wee bit (heck, sometimes even dig through on SmartGlass alone!) through Games & Apps >> Games >> Actual Game to
find some stats. Probably a bit trickier than I'm imagining, as every game doesn't score the same way, of course. Know what I mean?

 

A lot of people don't like it. I didn't like it at first but after using it during the preview for a while it began to grow on me and I'm loving it now. I think it's awesome! Can't wait to see what features are coming in the next preview.

 

I installed this yesterday, and watched the video describing the features. Oddly, I don't seem to have the friends tab like I'm supposed to. I wonder if I've turned it off by accident somewhere. I don't see my friend's recent gamerscore changes or anything
like that. The next tab to the right of the main one is the store, just like it was before the update.

I must not be understanding this correctly.

 

I prefer like it was before this update.

I guess ,Microsoft did that for people who doesn't use or have Kinect.Completly useless for me....

 

I like the new section, friends should be up front on the home screen. Since that is what is essential to Xbox Live. With that being said, remember, it will evolve and get better. Just as the 360 evolved.

If you are a Day One purchaser like myself, you have seen quite a bit of changes so far. The Xbox One has truly come a long way from Day One.

 

For everyone upset about the change to the friends list being moved from the left to the right, I just wanted to assure you that, I felt the same as you when I experienced the change in the preview program, but since then I have gotten used to it. Of course,
if you don't think you will, you can always put a pin on the left - it's what I did.
