    Lightning Returns Final Fanasty XIII

Lightning Returns is a huge departure from all prior XIII Games or even FF Games. The best way in what I have figured out "what" to do is stop trying to beat the doomsday clock and just go with some Quest.

It's meant for multiple play-throughs and there seems to be no way a 1st play-through is going to be able to to do much other then help build your Level and watch the end of the world. You can start in any city you want (sans being off the first train). You
can also start in any Quest you want, though it seems all later parts of a Quest become increasingly difficult.

I was on my 5th day by the time I finally beat a certain Character (no spoilers) and that was not easy. Failed miserably after many tries (with a Save in front) and to add to this, I barely beat that Character with having to use all EP and Potions and still
performing so bad I got 0 stars.

The Game does not hand-hold in the slightest and is basically up to the player in what or where they want to go. It's enemy scale is a little off many times in that a low Lvl Player will have to learn the hard way against enemies they don't stand a chance against
being right in the same area that common enemy kill are found. A lot of trial and error and just understanding the 1st play-through is not going to be in the player's favor.

So still waiting of FFXV to save the series is what it sounds like. Anyway is the time progression like Majora's Mask where if you mess up there is a way to go back in time or like Persona where time constantly moves forward but you have a set amount of
"major things" you can do in a day?

Yes and no. You start with a set amount of 6 days until the end of the world. By completing quest and "saving" the souls of those you helped, you extend time in the next morning. The maximum you can get would be the last 13 days
    (total).

You can pause time but its very limited and uses the same item known as EP that you could otherwise be used in combat for difficult enemies. I havent finished the game but I'm starting to suspect if it is even possible to do everything,
saving everyone with all 13 days. You do get additional days by completing quest but all are not equal for time used vs time rewarded.

Mixed emotions this game envokes. I was on my last day and expecting the end, I was given one more day... I had come to terms that it was oblivion and upon returning.

It sounds like you can beat the game in one go by using like some sort of "critical path" and grinding, but I can't be sure until I pick it up. I do agree with you though, that I don't think you can save everyone in 13 days. Also you said that you get bonus
time in the next morning, does that mean you have to do something to progress to the next day or does it just happen?

You have to finish quest to save that persons soul to be given more time. Its leveled though from risk to reward. It goes in order of importance from Main Quest, Side Quest, then Notice Board Quest. Say doing 5 or even 10 Notice
Board might not get you another day but those 10 and at least 1 or 2 Side Quest might give you another day.

There isnt really grinding for Lvls anymore either. Beating enemies doesnt lvl up your Character. You gain "level" by finishing quest. You also dont really have time to farm enemies. Its a catch 22 though. Beating enemies does
help increase your attacks, magic & defends but not like any other prior FF game.

Just keep in mind the difficulty settings are a little off in their description. It by far is one of the most difficult FF Games. I don't know if its a case of gamers being watered down or catered to over the years or simply the
    Developers underestimating the difficulty.

imo the Game at Normal feels much more like what other Games in this Gen would call Hard. And Easy is closer to what most would call Normal. In Normal you do not regain Health after each battle by simply waiting (or given). You must use either Potions or Cure
or the like (Cure is no longer a "regular" Magic and cost EP). This combined with losing a battle makes you Escape costing a hour In-Game. All of this raises the risk/ reward of which battles to take on and which to avoid at lower Lvls. Each battle is just
one more to whittle you down even further.

  12. FF 1-10 were pretty decent games. I skipped over 11 & 12. 13 was ridiculous and I was slightly annoyed at my friend for talking me into getting it. 13-2 started out better, but the difficulty seemed to go from baby-in-a-blanket easy to insane. What happened?
I'm finished with the series. I'm going to remember it for how it was with 1-10 and forget the rest.

I have the collectors edition coming in the mail . I also picked up the guide for my second playthrough. FF13 got more hate than it deserves. Its a really good game.

  14. ^^ Damn straight. FFXIII was amazing. As for 13-2, that's hard? Lol. Loads easier and shorter than the original. Try playing it on easy if you're having a hard time on normal, although tbh normal on that game is easy and easy is noob. Lightning Returns Final Fanasty XIII :p
