    Lightning just fried my Xbox One

    This happened to me in March. The power supply was fried and the warranty covers it. It'll be a week or two to get it back though. I bought a 3rd party power supply through Amazon (sounded like a jet engine) until I got the ms one back, then returned it
    to amazon. Also, you're not supposed to plug the xbox one into a surge protector as the power brick itself is a surge protector.

    Neither power strip protectors nor UPS claim to protect from major surges. The lesson was learned the hard way. Protection means something attached to the breaker box or electric meter. You have now learned what does not work and what must exist to have
    protection. Don't make the same mistake again.

    We get more lightning than anyone here in Colorado. I had to completely replace every part of a computer once, including the monitor. If we're having a strong thunderstorm, I unplug anything really important.

    Lightning is fairly rare where I am, but when it happens, I turn everything off and unplug it. You can't be too safe.

    The warranty covers lightening to prevent people buying the rival when their console is fragged, tee hee. ;-)

    Lmao Lightning friend bacon. I like that idea!!

    As for the case of lightning killing an Xbox One, that is terrible luck buddy. Hopefully its sorted soon and I doubt it would ever happen again.

    Good luck man hope you get everything fix i live in louisville ky and we had crazy lightning storm i ever saw. news reports over 2,000 strikes ever 3 mins nothing but flashing and sky to ground ligtning. Over 9,000 house with out power i am so lucky to have
    power....later

    If the lightning entered the electrical in your house then it's highly likely it exited through the ground wiring. Don't know if you have already but you should have all the electrical in your house checked. Such a large voltage would probably overload all
    the wiring.
