Light on console flashing and knocking noise

about all you can do is unplug everything for a few minutes then plug it all back up , dvd or fan is about the only things that could make noise , have to send in for repairs either way...

When the disc tray will not open while empty on the old Xbox 360 system there is one trick I have found has worked without issue on all the consoles I have seen with this ailment.



Turn the console on, lay down on it's side, press eject, while green light is flashing as to open and it's sticking knock on the side of the console with your knuckles as if you were knocking on a door, aim more toward
the tray bezel but on the side of the console.



99.9% of the time it will open. Remember to knock when the green light is flashing, otherwise it will not do anything.



To avoid this from having to rap on the console everytime, ensure there is a disc in the tray at all times.

I had the same problem with the original xbox one. It was the first warning on my xbox one that the internal harddrive was dying. After it did this for a few weeks I could no longer access anything on the internal harddrive. Mine was out of warranty,

Try this:

1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.

2. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.

3. Press and hold the BIND (controller sync button located on the left side of the console or bottom right if a one S or one X) and the EJECT button and then just press the Xbox button on the console once.

4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.

5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.

6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

7. To reset your console from the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter, use the D-pad and A button on your controller to select Reset this Xbox.

9. When prompted, select Keep games and apps. This option will reset the OS and delete all potentially corrupted data without deleting your games or apps.



If that doesn't help I'm afraid it is something with the hardware. You can try asking for help here.

Power Supplies don't usually make humming noises. If your Power Supply is in a non-ventilated area it will overheat and the temperature will raise, the Power Supply may show a red light and your console may show 3 flashing red lights or no light at all.
if you encounter 3 red lights try the Flashing Lights Solution, if you encounter no power try the No Power Solution. If the Flashing Lights Solution or the No Power Solution doesn't solve your problem your Power Supply will need to be replaced.
