Lied to my Microsoft, going PS4

So I posted to the forums many times about NEW controllers I bought that had a defect where the thumb stick was loose from the actual controller and altering postion inside the case of the controller. Here is a video I took of that issue ().
Long story short I was told by a rep from Microsoft that this is how the controller was made and that it wasn't a defect. Well I went out and bought another controller and SURPRISE! This controller has the issue in BOTH thumb sticks, when I was told by Microsoft
reps it was designed to be in the right one because that is the most common stick and its there to prevent input that isn't intended. Which in itself is dumb because you could just update the controller and increase the dead zone. So Microsoft lied blandly
to a PAYING customer and is covering up a defect. Then want me to pay them my money? Sold this piece of crap console and went PS4, which I never did before, all my problems are non existent. My advice to eveyone, go PS4 and save yourself the trouble of dealing
with these incompetent support reps.

"Free" TV offer that's not free

Can you tell us why you have a link on XBOX video that says "FREE TV" when it's not free, and it's not really TV, it's only previews? Bait and switch isn't cool, Microsoft, and not all of your potential viewers like be lied to. PS4, here I come.

I'm sorry that you had this problem. However, I have never once had this problem.

 

i have this in my controller. however, it has not affected my experience in the slightest, and in fact helpss my thumb stay flat on the analog stick. now, i know you feel like you're being cheated, but maybe you're just getting worked up over nothing.

 

It is also entirely possible they didn't fully understand the issue - sometimes something gets lost in translation that just can't be appreciated without actually experiencing the problem in person like you have. I don't think they would lie about something,
especially something so easily verifiable. Sorry to hear you're having a problem, but if I were you, I would contact support again and ask to speak to Tier 2 support or a supervisor.

 

Following-up, here, I just looked at your youtube video. Technically both thumbsticks do have a bit of play by design; I was under the impression, when I read people talking about "play" in the sticks, that they're talking about a good 1/4" wobble. From
your video, it looks like about 1/16" which is not only natural, but doesn't negatively affect the gameplay - when you think about it, what Mrs. Q told you makes sense because, if I rest my thumb on top of the stick and there is 1/16" of play, I'm naturally
going to expect the input to begin at the edge of that zone, which you can physically feel. If that 1/16" of "play" was just a programmed dead zone, with the stick firmly attached and no free movement, it would negatively impact the gameplay because it would
be a guess as to when the input starts. You wouldn't feel the "edge" of the play and wouldn't know when the input begins.

This would be most noticeable in fine-movement situations like creeping forward or moving crosshairs while aiming. It would be horrible to gently tilt the stick and get no movement until a preprogrammed distance had passed. It's subconscious, but we don't
have that issue when the dead zone is "loose" because we can feel the edge and know when the movement starts.

 

My day one doing same thing. doesn't appear on my end at least to be causing any gaming issues thus far.

 

Let me assure you even though your controller issues are unfortunate the issues with PS4 can be more severe although different.



I'm a very small Youtube channel however that video has about 22k+ views and with bigger channels that have covered it that number is FAR larger. PS4 is still to this day ripe with error codes galore causing save data loss among other things. Even though
i like my PS4 there is a reason i now buy most of the multi platform games on my Xbox instead.

 

I've got both consoles and have had no major issues with either of them.. sorry to se that the op is exeriencing so much trouble.. but I dont' think that there is any console out there with a large user base that you won't find examples of people having
issues with them.. I have been a longtime fan of both XB and PS consoles and have had a minimal amount of fuss with both of them.. but there is no safegarding against "good old" Murphy and his law I guess..
