  1. Lied to by a rep, hung up on by a manager.

I'm posting something on here to bring it to someone's attention.

I called in to confirm a gamertag change to one of the million - I've had an old account created from day one launch of XBL, only to be locked out of it a few years later because of a microsoft decision. So I called in today to confirm what I need and to make
sure my gamertag was available. It was! So I asked the rep(I wont use names) what I needed. The rep said all you need is to get 3m of gold(accumulative 1yr was needed which I exceeded by multiple years), and $10. He said go to the store, pick up the 3m of
gold and a minimum $10 prepaid xbox voucher card. So I picked up $15 just to be on the safe side.

I get home, try it on my 360(as my 2nd Xbox One died - and I refuse to invest in any more until they fix the faulty hardware as my 5+ year old Xbox 360 "S" is running just fine!), no luck - it said the gamertag I wanted was taken. I kind of got frustrated at
this point as I was told over and over again that my old gamertag was released. So I decided to try on the PC. Success! -- or so I had thought! It was asking for a credit card(which I just cancelled!) to do the gamertag change.

So, a little frustrated I called back to microsoft. Got some guy on the phone after waiting 15+ minutes on hold, he basicly told me I needed a credit card to do the change. So I told him what the previous rep told me and that I need to go and pay with a
credit card. I was getting a little loud at this point because if someone at microsoft tells me how to do something I expect it to be accurate, as I asked him to check into it 3 times within 20 minutes(the first rep). The second rep was rude, condescending,
    and kept repeating himself.

So I ask for a manager, he says the manager will tell me the same thing. I said that's fine and I'll hear it from him. So I wait 5 minutes and the manager gets on the line. I tell him the situation, and how one of his reps told me what to do - and the dude
was a total ***. Dyllan the Manager. Absolutely condescending, talks over you, and basicly was no help(no word of a lie). Would interrupt me, talk over me, and keep talking until I shut up(which I didn't). He basicly said he will pull the call and listen to
it, but tough luck. You spent $15 on our xbox live card and can't do a gamertag change, even though one of their reps said to do this, blatantly lied to me.

So what's my next course of action? I tweeted Xbox Support, and told them that the recordings are going up in a few hours on a friends YouTube account with 1.2m subscribers. You're managers who represent Microsoft as a whole, can't teach their customers
like absolute dirt and get away with it. After all, isn't it the paying customers the sole reason why these people have jobs? I'm taking a stand. Both calls are going up, and after 13 years of paying faithfully for xbox live, and having multiple consoles in
my household - I am fed up, and am making the switch to PlayStation. But before I do, I want everyone to know how big of a failure their support is, and you'll be able to hear how heated and passionate I was on the phone. Money wise, I run my own company and
spending $10 is no big deal. I haven't had XBL in 4 months as I've been very busy with work. But it's the principle of being lied to, and treated like absolute crap on the phone. I for one wont take it.

In the last 15 years, pre-tax. I have spent $7038.95 on multiple Xbox consoles(original, and the Crystal Edition), multiple Xbox 360 consoles(original, elite, resident evil edition, "S"lim, halo edition), multiple Xbox One consoles(both died, due to faulty
hardware), two Zunes(4gb and 120gb), Microsoft Office suites(two different years, professional), 11+ years of xbox live, a collection of 15 Xbox One games and nearly 50 Xbox 360 games, plus countless Xbox 360 digital content/games/avatar clothing, etc.

So, that number is just with what I remember spending. That's at least $470/yr on average in the last 15 years, and this is how they want to treat a customer? Awesome, due to this I will be switching everything in the house from Windows/Xbox to whatever
else I can get(PlayStation, Mac) and tell my family to do the same.

I may only be one person. But you don't treat someone like trash and get away with it. I'm pretty young, in my 20's. And I've taken enough trash from people my whole life, and wont let anyone else treat me the same. Especially someone at a big company like
    Microsoft.

I've been dying to try a mac, and now I'll go out and make the switch. I'll be making the switch to OpenOffice as well, plus it's free.

It's been a fun 15 years Microsoft, but I'm done. I'm done with your business decisions, your horrible customer service, your monopoly-like attitude(just because it's big doesn't give you the right to take a dump on customers), and your faulty equipment. Only
reason why I went through so many Xbox 360's is because they kept dying on me. My Slim and halo edition were the only ones that made it. My Xbox Ones were less than a year old - the first one had a bluray-drive failure, so I got another one and kept the first
one for digital content til it died after the one year mark. So I kept the second one until it also died(my 360 Slim is still plugged in and chugging away just fine and I've had it for 5years-or more). I'll be uploading the video/audio on YouTube whenever
I get to creating the video to put up, and will still have to send it to my friend as he has a large subscriber base and hopefully this gets to the right individuals/share holders on Xbox and they can see how bad of a screw up this is. No taking ownership,
no resolution, horrible customer service(now where's that survey?! lol). Good bye, microsoft.

    :)

  2. LIED TO BY A ONLINE CHAT HELPER

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about your purchase issue. Live can be purchased with Live gift cards (1, 3, 6, 12 month).

It's just that currency cards are not, and have never been, a valid payment option for subscriptions.

    http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/prepaid-codes/types-of-prepaid-codes

Are you sure that's not what the initial chat support agent said?

    You could've used the card

I don't think you are fully understanding the issue

To use the currency card you must use the 360

Currency cannot be used on the Web portal except for xbox one purchases which don't include gamertag

It's not am issue support can fix as it's the marketplace issue

I HAVE BEEN CALLING SUPPORT FOR THE LAST 4 DAYS. THEY ALL KEEP TELLING ME TO POST ON THE FORMS, WHICH STILL HAVE NO RESULTS. I HAVE BEEN HUNG UP ON 3 SEPARATE TIME "WAITING" FOR A MANAGER. SO, EVERYTIME YOU SEE A THREAD, IT WAS UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A CUSTOMER

Way to go Microsoft..Xbox One dud...still can't play a single game. Help!!

Good luck with that. We've spent all day on either hold or talking to the robots and robot supervisors on the support line and all we've gotten so far is lies and hung up on.

    Great

Everything but the referb breaking has happened which is enough to show a bad tend the being lied to as well and being hung up on them not being able to grantee things or ancwer any of my questions and a theory is still valid with a referb as well as a new
unit but the fact I was lied to is what really *** me off.
