  1. License Transfer Concerns

Hello, Xbox Live forums and support!

I would like to ask some questions about license transferring. I looked on the part of the website about it, but it seemed a little unclear.

I have a friend who owns a copy of "Grand Theft Auto 5." If he were to license transfer this to me, (I know it's possible. Many people have been doing this over Xbox Live.) would either of us get banned? I don't want his profiles, his console, my profiles,
or my console to get banned. So, that is why I'm asking this question. Would either of our consoles or profiles get banned for this? If he license transfers it to me, can he still play/own the game on his console and profile?

Thanks, hope you have a nice day.

    :)

  2. License transfer concerns

My Brother and I are living in an apartment together and recently have moved the xbox's we own around. We licensed transfered to eachothers xbox's after we moved things around to consolidate content. My concern is I've heard doing this can get us banned.
As long as we aren't using the content without the other person present its not against TOS right? We play legit and buy our own content but we do have different taste from time to time. Anyone have any idea?

    License Transfer?

This. It's $5 a month or $30 for a year and you get BF4 plus other EA games and discounts on their digital content.

In short... yes, you would both get banned.

What you are describing is called Marketplace Theft and is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service that was agreed to upon creation of the account.

If caught doing something like this you not only risk having your gamertag(s) banned but also the possibility of having the console(s) involved banned as well.

It's best to purchase your own copy of the game.

  6. Nothing in the Terms of Use or Code of Conduct explicitly prohibits such an action. I've gone over the Marketplace Theft page on the enforcement website with several Microsoft representatives and they have stated that is fine to do this. In fact, on their
Digital Rights Management webpage, they list explicit instructions on how to do this.

@AmuricanPatriot thats the thing we also agreed to the code of conduct which has

Don’t engage in fraud or unauthorized transactions. For example, don't:

    • Lend, transfer, sell, or otherwise provide third parties access to your accounts or Gamertags
    • Access or attempt to access accounts that you do not own
    • Purchase memberships, games, gift cards, account credit, or content from unauthorized parties
    • Attempt to use or share fraudulent methods for getting memberships, games, gift cards, account credit, content, or hardware
    • Use your account to trade services or in-game content for memberships, games, gift cards, account credit, or content
    • Resell or redistribute any part of Xbox Live

This would be considered fraud since youd be attempting to get access to content you did not pay for

Also phone support arent usually the best people to go do with what will or wont get you banned since they have nothing to do with bannings
