License Transfer ( 360 to One S ? )

I haven't played the 360 in YEARS, so I went on a hiatus after going to the PS4, but after getting my tax return, and using it to get some MUCH needed appliances and items, I've been contemplating buying an Xbox One S 2TB (either the launch version or the
Gears of War 4 Bundle version); only thing is, when I went on this hiatus, I looked up how to transfer content licenses from console to console; I have a 360 elite (or had, gave it to my brother) console that I did not transfer licenses from

if I get an Xbox One S (any edition, lets say), will I still need to do the license transfer before I use my new console, or can I just blank my old 360 hard drive, and re-download what I want onto my Xbox One S ?

I would like a reply, because at this time, I am buying the gears of war 4 bundle from amazon, and would like this answered by ANYONE willing (administrator's, xbox live specialists, etc...) before I start messing with it

Lincence Transfer Issues

Hey there Unkown! That's because license transfers aren't used for sharing DLC/Games without paying for them. The purpose of a license transfer is to transfer ownership of content from one console to another console; not to transfer ownership from one account
to another.

For example, proper use of a license transfer would be: You have an original Xbox 360 console and you buy an Xbox 360 S console. You then use a license transfer to transfer ownership of all of your DLC from your original console to your new console.

 

Other profiles on my Xbox 360 cannot play full versions of purchased games.

I already did a license transfer to the white 360, and I cannot do another license transfer for four months. On top of that, 360 I transferred from (the black 360 S), is gone. I no longer have access to it.

 

You can't directly transfer anything from the 360 to the One. Anything you purchased on your account that is backwards compatible will show in your Games and Apps area under Ready to Install as long as you sign into the same account that purchased the games.

 

I understand, but I meant Content Licenses; ONLY for example, say I transferred the licenses from my old 360 to a 360 slim, and then transferred the games as well with a 360 transfer cable; will I need to transfer the Content Licenses as shown by here
before I can re-download them (the content that is backwards compatible at least) onto my xbox one s, or can I just erase my old 360 hard drive and just start "fresh" so to speak

 

The licenses are attached to your account. So once you sign into the One, anything that is backwards compatible will automatically be transferred.

 

As I understand the BC stuff - no transfer is necessary since you are allowed to play on both platform, the same game.

And if having Gold membership progress on one will be noticed on other.

In my case only purchasing boxed on disks, I inititate game to show up by inserting disk.

But digital purchases should show up on Ready To Install automatically.

And if you won't bother immediately - you can hide those to later recall them in list.

But other stuff like purchased films or music, not sure how that works. Maybe that must be transferred.

Yep.The only thing you might want to do is upload any 360 game saves to the cloud storage if you want to use them on a backwards compatible game.

Other than that just format your 360 hard drive to delete everything.

I remember on my 360 I never activated cloud storage - so there is something to check out. Then it works like X1 - and game saves as I understand it.

On X1 nothing is possible ragarding games and usb stick, which is no problem on 360. So if possibly this is affected when cloud is activated, maybe one looses usb stuff.
