    LH stick drifting

I have been having issues for the last few months with my Xbox One controller. For some reason the stick drifted up even when I wasn't touching the controller. Originally I thought it was an issue with the game that I was playing but noticed the problem
persisted after I stopped playing the game. I've been looking in the forums and it appears that I am not the only person with this issue. The drifting has been getting worse and I can no longer use the controller to play any games. How do I get a replacement
    from MS?

The following forum includes history of several other users that encountered the same issue. In this forum you will also see that Microsoft acknowledges that the drift is caused by defective hardware. http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_support/xbox_one_support/f/4677/t/1846667.aspx.
Unfortunately, the forum is locked and I can not post my question there.

My controller is not under warranty, but I have been experiencing this issue for some time always thinking that it was a game glitch. Until I read this forum is when I realized it was not the game, it is the controller. I followed the directions in the
forum above but because the controller is no longer under warranty, MS online center is trying to charge for a replacement. Who can I contact to get a credit or a reimbursement for the controller that is most definitely a defective product. i already chatted
with someone in the service center (Jeramy) who told me to post this issue in the forum in order to get this controller replaced.

Thank you for the support ahead of time!

    :)

The controller has a 90 warranty period and if it is out of warranty you should just purchase a new one. Good Luck!

yup, there are some you tube videos on how to fix it but you have to be fairly technical, and I have tried it, time for a new controller.

Where do I find my private messages?

My left analogue stick also drifted up, had it for about 9 months (?) so just bought a new one. I've had the new one for about 3 months, and the D-pad will not recognise diagonally up-right (fortunately I don't use the D-pad often, but I was using it for
Killer Instinct as I find D-pad better for fighting games, back to using the anologue stick again).

No one here can sort you out not even a moderator, this is a discussion forum nothing more, nothing less, all you will get here is a load of opinions from fellow gamers....

If your controller is over 90 days old all you will get is a link to request a repair or be told to simply purchase a new controller. You may as well go ahead and purchase a new one because with shipping and repair expense you will spend enough to buy a
    new one.

That is what I was afraid of, I have officially gotten the run-around from Microsoft.

I will say that I am not shocked by this at all. Prior to this Xbox One purchase I used strictly Sony consoles because I never liked the way Microsoft did business. However, my friends convinced me to switch over.

This controller issue has proved that I was correct and I will not be purchasing MS again. I refuse to buy another controller either. I work for a very reputable company and we would never force a customer to buy a replacement product to replace one that
was defective from the factory. This is basic to doing business, but apparently MS does not care about the customer, only $$.

    Thanks for the input though.

That is definitely a choice/option available to you. Many are using the controller successfully and have had the controller for extended periods without issue. I know there are many posts in the forums regarding malfunctioning controllers but just remember
this is a support forum and very few if any come here just to say my controller is functioning well. Good Luck on whatever decision you make. Happy Gaming!

@Big, I don't see MS posting saying if you don't buy another controller they will hunt you down, I am a little confused.

I would also love to know the difference in business practice between the two companies?

Also how old is the controller? And much usage has it had?

    (Just interested)

The controller is just over a year old now. It has been used very little, relatively speaking. I don't know how many hours it has had, but I do not play very often. On average I would say I played 2 hours per week over that year.

Would love to know what company you work for that would replace a year old product for free.

It obviously worked for a period of time so wasn't delivered defective from factory as suggested either.

Buy a new one and move on or sell the system and move onto more important things.

As has been suggested this isn't a support forum so no one can help here, except with information you don't want to hear. I do hope you get it sorted, the new controllers with the 3.5mm jack are much better quality IMO, but its up to you.
