  1. LG HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color issue (Screen flickering)

Mine started flickering again even with the replacement cable. No problems from my GTX970, and no problems from the xbox at 1080p. It seems this console just can't handle 4k. I have never seen a monitor cable cause problems running a specific resolution
    it was designed to handle.

    Hey Pasty Stuff,

This is the same issue I am having with my LG 65UB9500. There also is an issue with my audio coming from my receiver as far as being able to choose 5.1 or 7.1 when i use the auto detect feature. But when i do the manual settings it allows me to select all
options but then states that my TV is able to do 4k @60hz but cannot be detected. I have called LG but they were unable to help me and said they were going to open a ticket for it and have engineers look into it. Microsoft stated that they recognized the issues
people were having and are planning a software update to resolve the issues. They could not confirm a date but said they are working on it.

Adrenaline, I too have had this issue but have also used several HDMI cables and continue to have the issue. Now when you say you have 4K do you mean the TV resolution or being able to stream 4K content via Netflix, YouTube, Amazon, etc.?

    Dz0n3,

Definitely glad to hear that Microsoft is aware of the issues and working on a fix and that LG engineers are going to be working on the issue as well. Makes me hopeful that this will be fully resolved in the near future. I also was having some issues with
audio for a while as well, but switched to Optical for audio and changed the settings to Bitrate DTS and haven't had any problems at all. Might want to try that setup and bypass the audio receiver all together see if that fixes any audio issues you're having.
Got to make sure any passthroughs and for video and your TV are able to handle the HDCP and HDMI versions of the Xbox One S for 4k to work properly.

    Wikkid,

As for firmware, I have checked and am running the latest version firmware for sure, but definitely worth checking if anyone is still experiencing the problem. Not sure if another update is coming anytime soon from LG, but I wouldn't mind if they sent one
out to address any possible concerns with the Xbox One S.

  6. Yup identical issue here and I have a UF850V 55inch and this has deep HDMI enables on both HDMI ports and HDR is blanked out. I spoke to MS and after 20 minutes of literally not having a clue came back saying it's because the TV is already using the HDR?

    forums.xbox.com/.../5742816.aspx

To me I don't think that's right, usually something is greyed out when you can't use it? And LG came back and said Deep HDMI is NOT HDR it is LG's own version of this. I have said to them that if this is the case then I want to return my TV for a TV fit
for its purpose as it was advertised as having HDR. I hope you guys with LG TV's don't have the same problem with LG. Both MS and LG have been absolutely no use whatsoever and hard to get real answers from and don't really know.

  7. I have the 2016 LG OLED B6 and experienced the same flickering issue. Mine was resolved when I switched the Xbox to 10 bit 4k and turned LG's Deep Color mode on (on HDMI 3). I do have a 2.0 certified HDMI cable. The flickering stopped however I am getting
the Xbox note that 4k 50hz isn't supported. Everything else seems to be fine though.

not sure if the flickering is the same. But i have a sony 4k with HDR and when ever i am playing games i will get flickering., The screen does no flicker as in a HDMI problem as in turning on and off. It's more like the color flickering from dark to light
really fast. But If I turn off 4k on the Xbox it will correct the problem.

BrutalBipedal, that's an interesting response from MS. I've been wondering if maybe they're not entirely wrong though. I haven't looked through menu settings on TVs that are confirmed for HDR, but I do know that going into the Advanced Picture settings
on my LG let me access the Dynamic Color and Dynamic Contrast settings. Turning both of those to high while playing Forza Horizon 3 made a huge difference in color accuracy and looked absolutely amazing. What I did for my setup is I made a custom setting
on my TV that has both Dynamic Color and Contrast set to high and another one with Dynamic Color set to high and Contrast set to low. I swap between them depending on if I'm watching or playing something that is HDR enabled and it really does make a difference
in the way the image is displayed.

Raiden496, I'd definitely try swapping for a new HDMI cable and see if that helps with your problems of flickering as that immediately fixed my problems.

  11. I also have the same issue. I have an LG 65UB9500. HDMI port 3 is the 10-bit port to which I have the Xbox1S attached using an Aurum HiSpeed HDMI (Mfr 330531). When this port for deep color is enabled, the Xbox detects that I can display 24hz, 4K @60Hz
10bit, but not 50hz although this TV is rated for it. If I set the Xbox to 4K UHD, then I get flickering. If I turn off deep color setting on TV, then I can sermon the Xbox to 4K UHD although all the details in the 4K detail are screen says that nothing is
compatible anymore. Have there been any updates from Microsoft or LG regarding the matter? And what are my options going forward, in the short term?

  12. I chatted with an LG attendant. I have a 60 inch LG 60UF7700 model with this Ultra HD Deep Color function. The attendant told me that Ultra HD Deep Color is not the same thing as HDR, they are different functions and the problem of my Xbox One S is not enabling
the HDR is because my TV does not have HDR support. I was frustrated.

The Xbox One S and my tv

My TV (LG 60UF7300) has the HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color as well. According to the Xbox One S support page, this is another name for HDR 10. Unfortunately, I've been having an issue with the Ultra HD Deep Color turned on. It's causing my screen to flash black
pretty frequently. It also says that HDR is turned off and that I can turn it on on a different menu, but the option is not selectable.

HDR image flickering on Xbox One X with LG C9 TV

    what is your Problem?

    Flickering Screen on Xbox

Flickering Screen on Xbox with HDR

Screen goes Black on HDR with Xbox ?

You talk about going black but have flickering on Topic.

There was an official Problem with HDR Flickering on that TVs and Xbox but that should be fixed a time ago
The screen flickers when HDR or HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour is on in the TV, after a while of flickering it goes black, then the TV loses the signal from the Xbox. That's
    my problem.

If I deactivate HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Colour, then there's no more flickering and no more black screen.

Well it isn't fixed yet, I'm 100% sure I am on the latest firmware on both the LG C9 and the Xbox One X.

LG HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color issue (Screen flickering)

I was getting flickering with the one that came with the Xbox as well. Now I'm just using some generic one that came with my cable box and it's working fine. I don't think a brand was listed on the cable. I'm going to order a Monoprice cable at the suggestion
of wishkid, just so I can make sure I have all working HDMI cables for everything connected to the TV right now. They have the Premium Certified cables that other places sell for over $20 for less than $5. The cable also specifically lists support for Deep
Color as a feature, so it should work well with the TV and Xbox. Here's a link to the cable, which, unfortunately, the 6ft is out of stock until the 19th. Glad I've got a solution in place for the time being at least!
