LG HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color issue (Screen flickering)

Got in touch with MS support. He wants me to try a different HDMI cable and the console on another TV if possible. He said because I have Ultra HD Deep Color, I should have access to the HDR option, which I don't. Going to try taking this console back
to GameStop tomorrow or this weekend to see if I can swap it out or at least try a different cable.

I tried that too and didn't work for me either I got the same results. Today something happened, I change the bit setting on the Xbox to 30hz 10bit and /I was able to change the resolution to 4K, the error of 50hz 10bit still there. I tested Netflix app
and I was able to see 4K and HDR movies, I also try a 4K BD with HDR and works fine. I honestly didn't notice any change on the dash board or games it looks the same to me, the only big difference here is the HDR movies looks so good they look fake LOL. Ill
    keep posting updates.

LG HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color issue (Screen flickering)

I have the 65UH7700 model and mine has all of the checks, except the 50hz 10bit as well. Im not too concerned as I don't know that I have ever watched a 25/50hz bluray in the US.

To my knowledge, the TV does not support HDR, but according to the Xbox service person, because it has Ultra HD Deep Color, that is another name for HDR10 and I should be able to access the HDR check box. I'm not too concerned about the 50hz either, but
I just want the flickering to stop and allow me to use the highest quality picture that's available on my TV which is the Ultra HD Deep Color. Going to try a different HDMI cable and see if that fixes any problems. I remember having picture cut outs on the
Wii U a few months back due to a faulty cable, so I'm hoping it's a solution as simple as that.

I called LG today and submitted the 50hz 10 bit error, they rep said she will submit it to the technical dept. for testing since the Xbone S is too new and they will contact me back with the results.

Going a little out of topic have any of you experience issues playing 4K, BD or 3D? because I played a 3D movie and I had to shut the xbone off 3 times until it finally work, then screen was going black when it reach the main menu. any one?

My 4k TV isn't 3D, but my Vizio in the bedroom is. Barely used it so I wasn't concerned about having it on the 4k TV. With regular 4k content like from Netflix, I'm not having any issues as long as Deep Color is turned off, if it's on, then I get the flickering
again. Same thing happens with Blu-rays. Still don't have any 4k Blu-ray discs to try though.

LG HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color issue (Screen flickering)

So, it turns out for me it was just a cable issue. Swapped the HDMI cable out and no issues at all! No HDR,but that's to be expected since it was never a listed feature on my TV, but all is good now the Ultra HD Deep Color!

  9. What brand/type of cable are you using that works? I was getting flickering with the cable that came with the Xbox.

I was getting flickering with the one that came with the Xbox as well. Now I'm just using some generic one that came with my cable box and it's working fine. I don't think a brand was listed on the cable. I'm going to order a Monoprice cable at the suggestion
of wishkid, just so I can make sure I have all working HDMI cables for everything connected to the TV right now. They have the Premium Certified cables that other places sell for over $20 for less than $5. The cable also specifically lists support for Deep
Color as a feature, so it should work well with the TV and Xbox. Here's a link to the cable, which, unfortunately, the 6ft is out of stock until the 19th. Glad I've got a solution in place for the time being at least!

    Pastystuff,

Finally 4K no flickering lol, and trust me can't go wrong with monoprice cables. One thing 3D is not the same with 4K, I have never seen a 3D soooo good, I don't know if is my OLED TV or the 4K upscaling but I can tell you it looks amazing almost like your
watching a 4K HDR. I have over 100+ 3D movies and I started watching them again because now is totally difference experience.

So no 3D on this TV, which, whatever, I only have like 10 3D movies for my last TV anyway, but I popped in Deadpool last night and from the splash screen of the 20th Century Fox logo, I could already tell a difference in color and clarity compared to the
Blu-ray. Definitely pleased with the upgrade, even if I can't access the HDR right now, it's a pretty impressive difference with the Deep Color

just to give an update from me, bought a cheap cable and as mentioned already, all my errors except the "back up and check allow hdr" are now gone, still cant allow hdr from setting so not sure what the console means, looks like the hdmi cable is def to
    blame in my instance.

    Diabolical Tuna,

Yes, it definitely appears that HDMI cables are causing the issues. A swap of mine fixed mine and gave me the same results as you. Luckily the cable still works fine with 1080 content, so it's not a complete loss of a cable. A couple other settings to
check on your TV's menus if you have the Deep Color option are Dynamic Color and Dynamic Contrast. HDR is basically a combination of more colors and better contrast to provide a more lifelike image. On my TV settings, I found those settings were turned off,
so I turned Dynamic Color to high and Dynamic Contrast to low (medium and high on Dynamic Contrast looked terrible) and noticed a drastic improvement in picture quality. It still won't recognize HDR on the console with these settings turned on, but the TV
still expands the color and quality on its own. One advantage to this is the results are seen across all aspects of the console, not just HDR enabled content. Even playing Red Dead Redemption through backwards compatibility, I noticed a HUGE difference in
color quality. The sky in the Mexico section before turning those settings on had a more blue-gray color to it, with the settings on, it looks like a bright light blue, just like it does in the desert where I live in Las Vegas, so I can definitely attest
to it looking more lifelike. Even the sunsets in the game, with the settings off, they were just bright oranges, with the settings on, there are pinks and purples that light up the sky and reflect off the clouds, just like in real life. Check those settings
and try the options I selected to see if it improves the picture for you as much as it did for me!

  15. I can also confirm this. I have an LG 4k Display. I had to enable deep color to use 4k, HDR10 is not an option with my monitor but it was not in the specs so I was not expecting it, just the 4k resolution.

The xbox started flickering immediately and stopped when using 1080p resolution. I found this post and tried using a cheap walmart HDMI cable instead of the provided cable, the flickering went away and I can run 4k. The provided cable appears to be a 1080p
only cable (if such a thing exists), they should have marked it, especially with the first 4k console.
