    LG 55LB6300

    Hello, I was directed to make a post here by xbox chat support.

    I just purchased a new 2014 LG 55LB6300 TV yesterday and was able to set it up with my Fios STB (controlling volume and power). When I try to set it up under devices on my X1, it right away says it found it and knows how to talk to it. But, it doesn't
    do anything! So I went it and tried to configure it manually. It finds the TV manufacturer but does not find the model.

    It baffles me because my Verizon remote was able to pick my TV up right away, but the X1 wasn't.

    Is there anyway to have microsoft include this model in their next X1 update?

    :)

    Hi ThaBlink,

    A few questions:

    1) When your TV is autodetected, what codeset (like T1234) does it say it's using?

    2) When you tried to configure it manually, did you just enter the make and model, or did you also try the "automatic" option where we guide you through setup by sending some commands?

    3) Are you sure that the Kinect has line of sight to your TV? That the IR receiver isn't blocked?

    4) If you are sure you have line of sight (perhaps try holding the Kinect pointing at the TV from ~5 feet away), then can you go to TV & OneGuide troubleshooting -> Enter a remote code -> TV and try the following?

    -2731

    -1840

    -4017

    -1860

    I'll also file a bug to get the TV in our DB, but we should still be able to control it fine.

    Hi Studbuck, thank you for taking the time to respond.

    1) When your TV is autodetected, what codeset (like T1234) does it say it's using?

    ~~~It says it's using T2731.
    2) When you tried to configure it manually, did you just enter the make and model, or did you also try the "automatic" option where we guide you through setup by sending some commands?
    ~~~I first entered the make (LG) and then did the automatic selection first. The volume up and mute worked (since I already had my vizio sound bar hooked up), but then the menu command didn't. I then went to enter the model number (55LB6300) and it said
    "Here's what we found. Pick yours" and didn't show it in the drop down. I tried a few different ones out of curiosity but they didn't work.

    3) Are you sure that the Kinect has line of sight to your TV? That the IR receiver isn't blocked?

    ~~~The Kinect is mounted on top of the TV with that stand they sell at best buy an amazon. I use my xbox one remote with no issues from where I'm sitting.
    4) If you are sure you have line of sight (perhaps try holding the Kinect pointing at the TV from ~5 feet away), then can you go to TV & OneGuide troubleshooting -> Enter a remote code -> TV and try the following?
    ~~~I actually saw these from an earlier post for you while I was searching around, but tried to do it again just now.

    -2731 - Did not work

    -1840 - Did not work

    -4017 - Did not work

    -1860 - Did not work

    The Xbox doesn't have any problems controlling my Vizio Sound bar and Fios set top box, it just won't recognize my new LG tv. I'm guessing its a newer model, it might not be in the database yet?

  6. Thanks ThaBlink.

    A user on a different thread had issues controlling a device because the stand that he was using for the Kinect was blocking the IR from reaching his Sound Bar. Is it possible that the Kinect doesn't have line of sight to the TV?

    Have you tried removing the kinect from the mount and removing any camera covers that came with it? Maybe hold the Kinect facing the TV (from about 5-10 feet away) and see if that makes a difference?

    I do have a bug filed to get this model into our database, but it shouldn't really matter, since it's probably using the same IR codeset as many other LG TVs.

    Hi Studbucket,

    I was under the impression that the TV would've been controlled by the hdmi control (like the PS3). I had my previous 2012 LG 47LS4600 hooked up the same way with the kinect on top and it worked fine. Additionally, my kinect is currently behind my sound
    bar (which is hooked up via the TV's optical port) and it works fine.

    With that said, I tried your suggestion of holding my kinect facing down and it worked! I put it back on top of the TV and spaced my TV a little further back from my sound bar and it appears to be working fine now.

    Thank you so much for your help!

    Hey Studbucket,

    One more question for you. I was under the impression that the TV would be controlled via hdmi (kind of like the PS3). Since apparently it's not, are there any plans on releasing an update to include that capability in the future? I think that way is
    a lot more convenient then via IR.

  10. HDMI-CEC is a technology we've definitely looked at, and we're aware of the advantages (and drawbacks) that it brings to the table.

    studbucket, just an update. The TV being powered on and off by my xbox one is still hit or miss, sometimes it will work, sometimes it won't. Hopefully you guys will update one day with it being hdmi controlled.

    tobiramo, tried it and didn't make a difference.

    ThaBlink - with our updated power setting has changing from On/Off to toggle (or vice versa) made a difference.

  15. This is strange. All I can think is that it's an IR environmental issue.

    I know this is a pain, but if your Kinect is set up so it's about 5 feet from the TV, facing it, do you still get these issues?
