Lemme get your opinion on something guys...

I roughly get about 4 - 5MB broadband speed and it will normally take about a day to fully download a game, I don't mind waiting to be honest.

 

I have 37 Games now and out of that only 7 are disc based, I might start collecting the discs, as think about it this way, if you suddenly have an idiot episode and get yourself banned perm then you lose all the digital games forever.

 

Unless it is a special collector's edition, then I usually buy digital unless I am just unsure about whether or not I will like it.

 

I like both. I just will not pay as much for digital. About half the physical price new. Reason is I have actually had digital content be removed. Older content sure but it was still removed. I went to re-download and it was just gone (my console died).
No way to get it back. So, I tend to buy physical. But if Steam or the Xbox Live marketplace or whatever has a good enough deal I will buy it.

The only other thing that gives physical the edge is the amount I have made selling older games that I have had. Sometimes I have done pretty well on that. Might not get as much all the time but it is nice to be able to get even $10 back on the rare game
I may sell.

For digital the benefits for me is mostly cost. If it is cheap enough. Generally the physical may still be cheaper but $30 or less and digital gets a consideration. Only takes me a second to change a disc, I have PS1 discs in like new condition as I take
good care of my games and these Xbox One games are very durable, and I do not mind storing the games so none of that matters to me. Plus it is very easy to share with family and friends.

 

Unless it's on sale on the marketplace I buy physical. My internet is too slow for me at wait for a full game download. With physical I can download it while offline and start playing a lot faster.

 

If you have 50 digital games and get a console ban, don't you essentially lose your 50 digital games? That seems extremely harsh. lol Oh I know some of you will recite the ToS to me, please don't. Just making an observation. I suppose you could buy a
new console and gain access to them again. I think that's so??

 

Depends on the price to be honest.

If the digital is the lowest then I'll buy that. If I can get it cheaper on physical disc then that will be what I go for.

This is something I think the console guys need to catch up with. If I buy an EA game on disc I have to register it online with EA. That then gives me a digital copy on their Origin service. I buy a game that uses Steam on disc, I register it and I have
a digital copy on Steam.

Buy a Xbox One game from Microsoft on disc and I get nothing but that disc.

Would people put up with having to enter a code when they first play a game if they got a physical/digital bundle as it were.

 

@bizarro why would I worry about a console ban? If that happens it means a serious offence which I'm 100% certain would not happen to me. I don't mod my account or console or partake in dodgy boosting lobbies or what other things get you banned.

 

@Rippen...... it will wind up being MS's fault for the ban.... no different than forgetting to eject a disc...

I have Ghost's and PvZ on disc.... everything else is DD. I get MS rewards with my downloads, and have been able to get "free" games with my points. Plus it is way easier then going to town to buy a disc.

 

What is this town that you speak of. Some guy in a red van pops my discs through the letterbox in the morning.

 

With a console ban you could access your digital content with a new console. A profile ban will takes away all your rights to the content that was purchased.

While I don't think M.S. bans consoles/profiles without being "sure"; it's a risk you take with digital.

It's not something that I would waste my time worrying about as a downside to Digital Download.

It's kind of like a Bank Robber losing his gun license.

 

Both have there advantages and disadvantages. Personally I prefer disks as I like something to collect and put on my shelf. It really goes on personal preference, you should go with through the pros and cons of each and make a decision based off that.

 

DIGITAL FOR THE WIN...IF YOU ARE A BIG GAMER

My reason is because every major I have had with the 360 AND the Xbox One is eventually depending how much you play the disc reader WILL stop working. Even if it's 2/3 years. I had it over 5 times on 360 from launch til day one of Xbox One and had it in
the first 3 months of having Xbox One.

Also if you are someone like me who isn't fussy with games and pretty much anything that looks good to you and dying to play it from launch then you can pre load the digital games whilst with physical you obviously have to go out and get it and have to wait
for the install which can take a while if you have slow internet.

I have switched to Digital since Destiny and only had one problem which was Advanced Warfare took a day to install. Wasn't to do with internet instead xbox addressed the issue.

Switch to digital for all the upcoming games. Any games you not sure on or not too fussed about buy on physical a few months later as they will be much lower in price than digital. Sadly unless it's on sale digital don't go lower in price.
