Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 - Xbox Powers Off

I'm having an issue with my Xbox One X powering itself off, but only while playing Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2. It happens during the cutscene that plays at the end of the 2nd mission. Right in the middle of the cutscene, my Xbox powers itself off completely.
When I power it back on, I get a message saying the Xbox shut itself off to prevent overheating damage.

• This has happened 3 times and the Xbox shuts off in exactly the same spot each time. I can't proceed any further in the game.
• I've never seen this message before and I regularly play other games for hours on end without issue.
• The Xbox is in an open entertainment center. It doesn't feel unusually warm to the touch at the time the problem occurs and the cooling fans aren't running at high speed.
• I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I've tried installing to a different location (external HD instead of internal).
• I contacted WB Games and they said it was a console issue and I should contact Microsoft support.

Based on my observations, I don't believe my Xbox is actually overheating. But I don't know why it would be shutting down at a specific point in 1 specific game.

Can anyone offer help or suggestions?

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes will not launch alongside Xbox One, Warner has said in a statement to

MCV.


"LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is coming to next-gen consoles, but the game will not be releasing on the Xbox One console on November 22nd. We will provide a release date for

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes on Xbox One as soon as possible," reads the statement.



The game will still be out on November 15th on PS4 (November 29th in Europe), alongside the console.

Sorry to hear you are running into this problem. If you have already attempted to uninstall and reinstall the game then I would also recommend possibly trying to go through with a "Factory
Reset And keep Games & Apps" Also known as a Soft Factory Reset. This will reset your console and Get rid of any possible corrupted files.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried the factory reset but it didn't help.

 

I'm using an Xbox One X which has the internal power supply, do I don't think this applies.

One suggestion is to try following this Troubleshoot Xbox One unexpectedly turning off article.

If the issue persists, even considering it only occurs with this one game it might be best to look into sending the console into our team for repair/replacement.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't really want to send my console for repair just for this issue.

I was able to play the game on a different Xbox console and get past the part where it was crashing. I've been able to continue playing on my original console so hopefully I won't have any more problems with it.

So I understand you would not want to send in the Console for a repair as you would loose some time with the Xbox one. If you have not already tried to

Uninstall and Reinstall the game to see if this fixes this problem then I would suggest you try this.

If you are still experiencing the same issue I would really suggest the Repair as your Last option.
