Lego Marvel Crashing to Home

I had originally posted this in a Lego Marvel thread, however an official MS Support guy (Mister Quimby) has (http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/xbox_one_support/f/4270/t/1661839.aspx?pi7406=3) said to repost it.....

I have (digital) Lego Marvel and all the DLC for it. If I have the DLC installed, whenever i try to spawn a vehicle in free roam, it crashes the game back to Home. if i uninstall the DLC it behaves normally.

I have removed the game, fully reset the xbox (by holding the Xbox button on the front panel), deleted all the local saved game cache and reinstalled the game from scratch to no avail, only if I remove either of the DLC does the game behave. I have emailed
travellers tales and they are totally ignoring me.

Microsoft, this all started for me anyway, after the last Xbox One update. I am shocked at the lack of assistance being provided by either MS or TT for a £50 game (well, thats what I paid in the MS Store...)

I was just coming to confirm what lobo just said. I was watching my son play and he was about to select a vehicle and I said "noooooooooo!" He did it anyway and it worked. They fixed a year old glitch, so that is nice.

Im unware if there is a fix, but I'll add another one to the "uninstalling the DLC sorts it" pile.

When you reset the xbox did you unplug it from the outlet for 30 seconds?

 

Yep. Yesterday I again carried out the following...

Test 1.

1. Reinstalled DLC, then made sure game was turned off.

2. Turned off XB1 by holding down the power light on front panel for 10 secs

3. Unplugged XB1 for 10 minutes (MS Support said 5)

4. Turned XB1 back on and tried Lego Marvel, crashed to home after opening spawn point and clicking vehicle selection.

5. Quit right out of game, removed DLC and tried 4 again, this time vehicle selection opens up and I can select a vehicle.

Test 2.

1. Uninstalled Lego Marvel full game and made sure ALL DLC was not present.

2. Turned off XB1 by holding down the power light on front panel for 10 secs

3. Unplugged XB1 for 10 minutes (MS Support said 5)

4. Turned XB1 back on and redownloaded and reinstalled Lego Marvel from Xbox store.

5. Installed DLC and tried game, clicking on vehicle selection from a spawn location crashes game to home screen straight away.

6. Quit right out of game, removed DLC and tried 4 again, this time vehicle selection opens up and I can select a vehicle.

It was only by following test 1 that I discovered why the game was crashing to home (in my case anyway) a few weeks ago as at that point nobody knew. In my case I had bought the DLC not long after I got the game and it all worked normally until the last
XB1 update. After that it started crashing.

Its the only game I have thats misbehaving, the rest are fine (including BF4 )

Removing the dlc is the only fix. Microsoft we need this fixed!!!!

 

as this is no Microsoft game you have to complain to Publisher

 

Already have complained, they've ignored me. A MS rep said to post it again.

 

thats most likely because you called them on phone and they can not do anything relating a 3rd Party game

i haven't called anybody, I've emailed travellers tales, I've emailed the publisher and I've posted in the MS forums. MS said to repost if the issue was still prevalent, it is and I have.

 

if an error exists on multiple plattforms with exactly the same symptoms (enter a vehicle, game freezes) you want to stick to the Plattform Service Provider rather the System developer for help?

mister quimby posted his Standard Troubleshooting you can apply to all freezing issues. this is not specific to this game and im very sorry, but if you use your old thread you have your solution: dont use a car or delete the dlc

this is no Installation error, this is no download error, this is a game file error and responsibility is with the developer. Microsoft can not patch games that are not published by Microsoft.

 

WB finally got back to me......

First of all, I'm so sorry to hear that you cannot play the game due to an issue with the vehicles.

We are aware that some players experience freezes in-game when attempting to use vehicles and the developers are already working on a patch which will hopefully be released very soon. We're only waiting for the patch to pass submission, so it shouldn't take
too long until it's available.

Our sincere apologies for this, we know how frustrating this situation must be, but rest assured that we're working on a fix and seek to deliver it soon!

 

That is great news! The game has been broken for in excess of 8 months. Hopefully I'll finally be able to enjoy the DLC for this game. Better late than never!

 

Anyone hear anything more on this? I am having same problem.

 

as long as there is no patch by WB, it wont change.
