    Left Control Stick Unresponsive/Drift

Last Christmas, I purchased a brand new Xbox One Gears of War themed controller (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-gears-of-war-4-crimson-omen-limited-edition-wireless-controlle...)
from a nearby Best Buy. The first time I bought one, I experienced the "B" button sticking and so I took it back for a replacement. It has been smooth sailing since then...until now.

Recently, within the last 48 hours, my left control stick has started to both drift and become unresponsive. For example, when playing Witcher 3, I can move my character, but 'sometimes' when I release the control stick Geralt will slowly walk forward until
I touch the stick. In Black Ops 3, this will cause me to stop sprinting randomly and begin walking until I initiate sprint again (only for it to happen 10 times in one match).

As for the unresponsiveness, more frequently than the issue above, my control stick will ignore any forward movement, such as when I am in menus or trying to move my character. It takes a few attempts for the controller to register my input.

No, I haven't dropped my controller or anything of the sort. I take extremely good care of my belongings, partly because I literally don't have the money to replace my items/this controller. I'm in college and spring break is next week; this is my only controller,
so you can see how this causes problems. I've been a loyal Microsoft fan for quite a while, but this really dampens my spirit towards you.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

    :)

    Hey there Rolkius.

Sorry about the controller drift trouble. Unfortunately if one your sticks is drifting, a repair or replacement is going to be your best option as outlined in this

    Xbox One Wireless Controller Troubleshooter
. Depending on your region and when you bought it you may be eligible for a replacement via warranty, if not purchasing a replacement is going to be your best option.

    Thanks for understanding!

Thank you for your help, but how do I get my controller serviced? I reside in the southeastern U.S. and have been told the controller is under a year warranty, but when I try to register my device on this site, I cannot. It does not accept my serial number
and the only things it lets me choose are Xbox, Surface and Band with no option for controllers. The problem has gotten slightly worse/better. Now the control stick grinds when you move it in a circle but actually responds to inputs majority of the time. There
is now also a tiny plastic piece that is free-moving on the inside (I can hear it). This is really upsetting and I'm to the point of going to Sony controllers now despite my love for Microsoft's. I still have the box the controller came in and it clearly tells
me what the serial number is. The only thing I don't have anymore is the receipt, because I thought I was past all this nonsense after the first month.

To expand on my reply so you will understand, Mister Maka, I currently game on a PC but was actually considering getting the Xbox One or Project Scorpio when it releases. I've always used Xbox controllers since I moved from Xbox 360 to PC (though I had the
choice to use PS4 controller). My idea to move to the Xbox One or Project Scorpio in the near future is looking sour.

It's been a few days since I've had any kind of response. This has clearly been a Microsoft mistake; not one but two controllers bought from a reputable seller had defects. I spent $70 on this controller and really like it, except for when I can't use it
because its creator goofed. I am happy to cover shipping of getting it sent in and repaired/replaced. I made an investment in Microsoft's hardware and it seems I was wrong for doing so...

I tried submitting a request, but I got an error stating that it could not be completed and that I should call them directly. I called the number and got an automated system that asked me why I was calling, to which I said, "controller replacement". After
determining that I was having hardware issues, I was instructed to select Xbox One, Xbox 360 or "other products". I tried both the Xbox One and "other products" route and both ended with the system asking me for an Xbox console serial number. It gave me the
option to say I don't have it, which I did (loud and clear) 2 of the 3 times I called, but it only disconnects me after saying that they were unable to determine if I have a console.

I need help with this witchcraft..

Update: Changed the wording in my chat request a bit (originally provided the link to this post) and it went through. We'll see how this goes. And by the way, thank you for your help. I do not wish to be a brute about this, it's just annoying; I don't come
by the money to get games and controllers/consoles very often.
