    Left analogue vertical drift

Experiencing constant drift upwards when the left thumbstick is at "rest/default" position on my Xbox One Wireless Controller. This isn't satisfactory and impedes gameplay.

I bought this control separately from my console a few weeks to a month after xbox one launch. How do I go about replacing it as the serial number of the control is not recognised by the "add a device" support section?

Can I have it repaired/replaced under my Console serial number even though it did not come with the console?

    Thanks in advance

    :)

  2. Right analog stick moving by itself.

There's an option in the settings to combat analogue drift. Enable/disable it and see if that helps.

    Xbox controllers are the worst

this problem is really putting me off buying the new xbox one elite controller, imagine paying over £100 for it and it gets analogue drift after a month

I have the exact same issue, only mine came with the console. Seems to drift up by itself all the time, makes FPS games impossible to play.

  6. Hey there TomKendal and ONYX1441!

I am truly sorry to hear about the controller issues, I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. I recommend trying a few troubleshooting steps to see if we can get this issue sorted.

Please give the following steps a try:

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Remove the batteries from the back of the controller and replace with fresh batteries if possible.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the issue is continuing to occur.

Give the suggested steps a try and let us know how it goes!

    Hi Mister Quimby.

These steps, as somewhat expected, did not work.

The issue remains and is present whether I'm using the control wireless with my xbox, plugged in via a micro usb cable with my xbox or plugged in via a micro usb cable with my PC.

I would imagine, although a qualification in electronics, computing or indeed video game controller design escapes me, that this malfunction is a mechanical problem with the physical analogue stick.

    Can you read?

You STILL haven't replied to my question, I informed you in the very first post now OVER A MONTH AGO that I was aware I may need my controller replaced.

I wanted and STILL want to know how I do that online as the controller was purchased separately from my console and the online repair center only accepts console serial numbers.

You have given me the most atrocious customer service ever, I therefore demand a swift conclusion to my original request and some explanation as to why it's going to have taken you over a month to address a simple query?!

    Left analogue vertical drift

Mister Quimby, I am having the same drifting problem on my controller that I've had for about 10mos and out of the RIDICULOUSLY SHORT 3mos. warranty. What decent product and company won't provide 1yr?!?

I tried the troubleshooting steps above and they did not correct the drift.

Judging by claims of all these XBox One supporters, it seems Microsoft should do something significant to correct the problem and return the support as it's CLEARLY a design/manufacturing FLAW. I am EXTREMELY hesitant to buy another controller as I now
expect that to break in 6-12mos and buying a new controller 1-2X/yr is simply unacceptable. I switched from PS3 to XBox One and judging by the quality experienced so far, I am now expecting the XBox One to DIE right after the 12mos warranty, which will prompt
me to go to PS4, so I don't see the point in supporting Microsoft with another controller or game purchases.

Besides your 'troubleshooting tips', which don't seem to work for ANYONE on this forum, what can you do for us?!?!?

  14. Hey there TomKendal!

Apologies for the delay! First, in order to set up a replacement through our Online Service center, your controller must fall within the 90 day accessory warranty period. For more information, check
out our Xbox One warranty page. If your controller is within the 90 day warranty, you can request a replacement by trying the following steps:

    • From the Online Service center page, select replace an accessory.
    • Select your Xbox One console (even if the controller was purchased separately from the console).
    • Select Controller and then select next on the bottom of the page.
    • If the page displays No Records Found, select accessory not shown.
    • Next, you will be prompted to add the product ID for your controller.
    • Once you have added your product ID, continue to follow the steps to set up the replacement. If your controller is not displayed on the next page, you will need to reach out to phone or chat support for further assistance. You can reach phone/chat support
      from our Contact Us page.
Once again I am truly sorry to hear about the controller issues and any inconveniences this may have caused. If you have any further questions regarding requesting a replacement controller, feel free to reach out to phone or chat support from our Contact
    Us
    page.
