Leaving Xbox One on all the time

Just purchased XONE and am wondering if it is better to completely power down when am done gaming or

if I should just leave it on...I play probably once/day or so, but would rather not just leave it on if it is better for

it so shut down.

Leaving XB1 on all the time makes me nervous

You don't have to have it on or have to watch tv on it.i feel the same way about you though.when i get the xbox one i have no intention of ever plugging it in to the xbox one.when i'm not gaming it i want my console to be off just the same as if i'm not
watching tv i want my cable box off unless i have a planned recording.it's just a waste of energy having both on just to watch tv and regardless if they've added a bunch of fans on the xbox one heavy usage will eventually put a toll on any console.i have a
max 4hr. Playing time on my 360 and my ps3 and when i'm done gaming it's going to be turned off.

Ya,i actually get what your getting at.i'm pretty sure though the xbox one has an hdmi input so you can plug your cable box directly to your xbox one.if they turned the xbox one as your primary cable box then you are screwed if lets say you're having trouble
with the game playing function of the system but not the tv and you have to mail it in for service.with xbox it will take over a month until you get yourconsole back which leaves you with no tv for that time period.

Hi this really down to personal preferences please see the attached link reference power off options.

Personally I leave my console in instant on mode for the convenience of a faster start up time and the ability to download console & game updates in the background.

Paul from Xbox Forums Team here to assist with the issue, with the current question about safety concerns with the external SSD. The ambassadors information is correct it should be fine to leave the SSD on while plugged into the Xbox One console. If you
have any further questions about the external SSD I would recommend contacting Samsung to see if they have any recommendations.

Hi,

I can't see how it would be unsafe. SSD's contain no moving parts. While SSD's will degrade slowly over time with data being overwritten, they don't degrade by just being on, or from constant reading.

You probably leave your phone on all the time, they contain the same type Nand Flash SSD drives use.
