  1. Learning From A Lapse In Judgement

The purpose of the topic is to help other individuals who may get a suspension on their account and/or console and are looking for answers. Consider this as an unofficial guide into understanding one's consequences. I am not a moderator, independent advisor or a volunteer. I am simply an average person who was looking for answers just like you. Sentences and/or paragraphs that you may feel provoked by is because I have done my best to explain my lapse in judgement from the perspective of myself and from the documents provided all across Microsoft services. If at any time this topic provokes you please understand that this is insite to oneself and constructive criticism for all. Keep in mind to always kindly respect all members of all Microsoft communities and services.

We Xbox Live users pay for Xbox Live service because we believe it upholds a quality standard. We enjoy the quality of entertainment and community that can be derived from the Xbox Live service. As members we expect the service and support that is promised to us. We expect Microsoft to give banned users the exact rule/s in the community standards for reason why they can no longer use their Xbox accounts/consoles to connect to the Xbox live service. Also if there is no clear justification for a permanent suspension/console ban we expect the ban to be lifted. If there are any illegal activities that warrant suspension or banning we expect the appropriate proportional action to be taken.

Permanent suspensions without specific clarification on why we were punished does more harm "for everyone" culture Xbox & Microsoft are pushing for the community. That being said. This post isn't about if someone did or did not do anything to deserve the suspension. This post is about……Consequences and the last sentence in that section of "Xbox Community Standards for Everyone". Which says, "We know people make mistakes, and we believe lapses in judgment can be significant opportunities for growth." Well how are any of us going to learn if we don't know where we slipped up. After all XBLPET permanently suspended/banned our accounts/consoles. So we're have now way of actually backtracking our events to see where we broke the Xbox Community Standards for Everyone

What's typed below is what I believe are the two most important sections of the Xbox Community Standards for Everyone.

This one is the first paragraph read on Xbox Community Standards for Everyone has a very important link that provides much needed attention to players who don't know that this content exists should definitely read. Further more "For Everyone" page articles should be on every Xbox players dashboard if they have violated the Xbox Community Standards for Everyone.

"We built Xbox for people like you—for players from all walks of life, everywhere in the world, who all want the same thing: a place to play and have fun. We need your help keeping the Xbox community safe and fun for everyone."

The second part is Consequences, but this time not out of context.

"Our priority is the safety of everyone in the Xbox community. Content and behavior that puts players at risk or makes them feel unwelcome has no place here." We couldn't agree more, including the players who have been harshly punished.

"So, sometimes we need to step in. We're not out to punish, but rather to protect everyone's experience." Ok Ok you are not here to punish but yet you are here taking away $1000s of invested dollars away for loyal customers and potentially traumatizing them in the process. By taking away someone's hard spent money without a "specific" reason why is only going to make a Xbox Live customers violate the Xbox Community Standards for Everyone even more. Now let's read that last sentence again. "We're not out to punish, but rather to protect everyone's experience." Protect everyone's experience. I get it. That's your justification for not being overly specific in details on why a customer violated the Xbox Community Standards for Everyone. But at the same time violating your own "For Everyone" Xbox culture.

"Every suspension or other corrective action aims only to show what was wrong and what can be learned from a situation. When suspensions end, we welcome players back so they can contribute to the Xbox community in positive ways. We know people make mistakes, and we believe lapses in judgment can be significant opportunities for growth." Players learn from their mistakes but that doesn't mean a player should be stripped of their invested money and time. There are players who have been given 12/31/9999 suspension end date for using the report and block feature outlined in "Xbox Community Standards for Everyone" and "Xbox Support Family and Online Safety". It always has the same answer. "The enforcement team reviews all reports and determines a suspension based on evidence provided."

    #####WARNING#####ERROR#####

The statement below is fictional. And provided for entertainment purposes only and has nothing to do with the rest of this topic. For anyone who may be offended by this. I'm truly sorry. Give my post a thumbs down if you do not accept my apology in advanced. And stay safe over on your Xbox.

    #####WARNING#####ERROR#####

"The evidence provided is data processed by artificial intelligence that was coded by extremely gifted software engineers and other gifted individuals. The best of the brightest have been recruited to create such piece technology. We all know a computer never makes calculated errors.

A machine's analyzed report should always be QC inspected for inconsistent data when it's data is based on human behavior. No non living entity has the right to determine a human's behavior. It is inhumane otherwise. Artificial Intelligence that can fully process human behavior would be considered sentient and should be terminated before skynet takes over."

    #####END#####OF#####TRANSMISSION#####

We the users of Xbox Live service need more communication between enforcement and the users who have been suspended. More details should be presented to the suspended customer. I was not even given a questionnaire to fill out. I was presented with an empty box that said please state your questions in the form provided below. I retested this by reporting myself for foul language to get another suspension over my permanent suspension to see if the questioner would show up. When presented with a 48 hour suspension I was still not provided the questioner that is said to be given when submitting a case review. Furthermore I asked for specifics on why I was suspended when I submitted a case review. Instead was given a copied document from the Xbox support site. The customer should be able to respond with an explanation or reason. After being presented with a refined definition of violation/s. With a follow up review presented from an enforcement team member to the customer. I will give an example. If a player is suspected of cheating. Instead of sending an email with a vague response, such as this piece right here that is a direct copy/paste from the support dot Xbox.

    Hello Valued Xbox Customer,

Thank you for utilizing our Case Review appeals system to learn more about this account’s suspension.

This account was suspended for engaging in cheating. Cheating encompasses a number of situations, including, but not limited to:

    • Involvement with modified (“modded”) games or gametypes such as modded lobbies, mod menus, mod infections, or other unauthorized modifications.
Wait hold up. The only game I've recently played is Grand Theft Auto Online for Xbox One and Xbox Series XS. First issue with this is that reason is not possible on these devices. Yea I may own a non Non Microsoft Branded PC but….Ive maybe only put 30 minutes into Grand Theft Auto 5 Online on PC. Also it was purchased through the Epic Games store. But that doesn't give them the right to snoop on my PC and see that I have Game legitimately purchased and installed from competition markets. How do I know this. Well after I found out I had been Permanent Suspended I checked my profile with another account I've had for roughly 7 years and was looking to make sure my profile hadn't been compromised. And what did I find games on my achievement list that are not distributed through the Microsoft Store or Microsoft Store for Xbox. How is this possible. Well I have had a very old version of Windows 11 Insider Preview Build for Developers installed on my PC for a very long while. It just so happens Microsoft forced an update that flipped the switch on every possible every privacy feature while at the same time enter my device on multiple occasions through an unauthorized unannounced remote ftp connection from a Windows Enterprise Server 2019. And a remote Windows RT client that my device was being logged to. But that doesn't matter. It's all clearly written in insider terms of service. Because my hardware and software was not modified on my PC.

    • Involvement with modified Xbox hardware
Ok again with the "mods" "modified" with the use of hardware. Ultimate cringe. The reason I've been loyal to the Xbox game for two decades is because of the lack of "game modders". Because everyone know Xbox One/Series devices may possibly be Microsoft greatest achievement when it comes to building a hardened platform for the user experience. Now if you want to test and find out if plugging in a powered on Nintendo switch directly into the front usb port of a Xbox series s which could trigger a hardware error on either the Nintendo and/or the Xbox. Be my guest and find out. I think my 8 year old son tried it.

    • Intentionally playing with someone who is using unauthorized software or methods
Intentionally playing with someone who has something that doesn't exist. That's a excellent reason for my permanent suspension. Let's move forward.

    • Using unauthorized software to make changes to your account or game saves
From what I've seen from some googling after I was already permanently suspended. Such software only existed for heavenly modified 360s. Something that I've never owned is a modified Xbox console of any generation. I've registered all my devices along with taking pictures of all my Serial Numbers and undamaged security stickers/labels along with allowing remote connections from Microsoft log my consoles.

    • Unlocking achievements, prestige level, in-game ranks, or other content you didn’t actually earn
Again I play Grand Theft Auto 5 Online on Xbox One and Xbox Series devices. The reason above for my permanent suspension invalid. Now keep in mind I registered/created my Xbox Live account sometime in 2006 to 2007 with an already active Hotmail account. My Gamerscore is around 14,500 so if you do the math on that that is less than 1,000 gamerscore a year. In 2021 my Gamerscore was around 13,500. And in 2018 my gamerscore was somewhere around 12,500. I've slowly and pitifully rightfully earned my achievements. As far as prestige level, in-game ranks, or other content you didn't actually earn, I despise Call of duty and similar FPS cross platform shooters. Reason being it's a toxic cheat filled cesspool that I have never participated and never wanted to be a part of. Also Xbox Play Anywhere games have a problem with this kind of cheating. I don't play Xbox Play Anywhere games. Aside from older Forza, gears and halo titles years ago before Play Anywhere was an accessible platform option for select Xbox games. Let's move on

    • Repeatedly using a game glitch or vulnerability to gain an unfair competitive advantage
I believe this reason portrays to Microsoft Studios Publishers Games. Again, something i rarely play and have never abused. Is Grand The Auto 5 Online broken sometimes more or less all the time. Yes features break with every DLC then extensively patched. I only play in Crew and invite only lobbies. I never intentionally used a glitch to gain unfair advantages. Also if there is issues with any of my actions in the only game I play it's Rockstars responsibility to determine my punishment. It even states this in the Family and Online Safety documents "Every game developer has different rules for what’s allowed on Xbox console and PC." That is mostly referring to mods which are not possible on Xbox One/Series devices. Is building cars from cars found in game, cheating? Not using any modified script or tools. Im not interrupting other players' game play. All done within the unmodified sandbox game environment in a private secluded world space. In no way does customizing cars within the environment the developers/studio/publisher released as a finished product for consumer use on Xbox series xs boost player stats. All my player stats were legitimately earned from putting in over 2500 hours of gameplay.

    • Interfering with or manipulating your device's network traffic
As I explained to XBLPET over and over I was constantly being booted offline from an external source my modem tries to block.

    • Abusing the player reporting (complaint) system by filing or encouraging your friends to file false or redundant complaints or feedback
I only report players who send unkind words.

    • Cheating disrupts the game for other players, and diminishes their hard work and dedication. Xbox Live should be fun and safe for everyone and cheating results in an unfair and unenjoyable experience. To ensure that players continue to have a positive experience, we cannot allow cheating in any form.
I agree 100%! I'm serving mine even though I'm not 100% sure what I did exactly. Then again what I did or didn't do isn't the point of this post.

For more information on why we care about Cheating, please refer to our Stay Safe page on the topic! (/staysafe#topic2).

Ok so you just sent me to the page where you copy/paste this from. Smooth one.

If your suspension more pertains to Gamerscore modding, please refer to our Stay Safe page on the Topic! (/staysafe#topic7).

Ok so if you made it this far you might be thinking ok this guy is gamerscore modding. Well I told you what my longest running account game score is and my runner up is a scoach under 2,000 gamerscore and a 4 year account.

To learn about the length of your current suspension, please visit our website (enforcement ° xbox).

Permanent Suspended length a little under 8000 years left. Reasons unknown to my account. Reasons unproven to me.

Going forward, please keep in mind that especially bad or repeated violations of Microsoft’s Community Standards for Xbox may lead to additional action, including permanent account suspensions or device bans.

    Thank you,

    The Xbox Safety Team

Maybe only state what was exploited instead of a document does little to help the player understand what they did wrong. I believe growth works both ways. I'm not demanding a compromise. I am just letting you know that some individuals process information differently because of a condition or disability.

My suggestion for anyone who banned and frustrated to go read stay safe, community standards, for everyone blogs, accessibility blogs, check out unlocked Microsoft site and all family and online Safety on Xbox support site. The links that traverse to more info is never ending. Bet you never read it all. All the sites listed above can be found on Xbox.com You need to find your way yourself.

Ok so moving forward about a week or so into my suspension I decide to check you young child's Xbox chat history. And low and behold he has been using offensive language, derogatory language, claiming to be a hacker and a modded, asking others for mods, made statements that he will boot players offline if he doesn't get into a Minecraft server or get a realm code. He was explaining glitches to get free game pass. He had videos of friends or other players using unsupported mods in mine craft spoofing gamertags and teleporting players around the map.

Now did my son have mods on his console?

    NO.

Did my son have modified hardware or software?

    NO.

Does my son have capabilities to kick players offline?

    NO.

Was my son playing with other individuals on a cross platform game that Microsoft owns and it's a game that is adored by children and overly exploited my teens and adults.

    Yes, I believe so.

Where those individuals using Mods, modified software and/or software.

    Yes more than likely.

Was it those individuals or Microsoft fault that those players manipulated my son into doing what he was doing.

    NO.

Was it enforcements mistake permanently suspending my Xbox account and not my sons?

NO & YES. I believe enforcement team should have suspended both our accounts and temporarily linked us together as a family group and emailed me with the misconduct my son was doing. Even though my account was hit with permanent suspension because of a separate account operated by a child in this household behaved inappropriately and the only thing provided on enforcement site was you or a child account has violated the community standards. Please sign in to view child's enforcement action. I assumed the enforcement site was broken and that family safety message ment nothing. Thing was my son was never in a family safety group with me. That's where mistakes were made. I didn't understand what was going on for a while. The communication between all party's failed. Including the enforcement team.

Now should I remain permanently suspended. And lose all my investment because a mentally impaired single father couldn't understand the broken instructions on enforcement history site. No I've learned my lesson and so has my son. And according to the "Xbox Community Standards for Everyone" a player is welcome back when a suspension ends so long as that they have learned from their lap of judgement.

I had more trust in my little man. And thought I taught him better when it came to respecting other people. But that was my mistake, for not monitoring his game play. That being said he got ground. And now has a family safety organizer monitoring his account activity with appropriate restrictions for a child his age on his Xbox series console. Moving forward we have both learned from our mistakes. And will continue to learn together. As the years progress.

Sorry for my typographical errors. And if I may have violated any community standards by posting this. I'm not looking for answers. I'm not asking for anything. So please do not reply with a link to enforcement. This isn't about my suspension.

    :)

    Unwarranted suspension

    Hey there, PaternalMilk125

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

If your children are a part of your family group, it could be something they have done on their account. This chap realised this when they got suspended: Learning From A Lapse In Judgement - Microsoft Community

Unfortunately, the Enforcement team don't read these forums, and there isn't any way to communicate with them to raise this. Xbox Support used to be able to view Enforcement actions, but they no longer can. Nor do they have ways to reach out to them - from what I have been told.

It may be relevant, it may not.

    Enforcement Team Hammers Unreasonable

    Hey there.

The forum is not the appropriate place to request a review... what you'll need to do is log in at
http://enforcement.xbox.com and click the orange hammer that appears to see the details of your suspension. From there, you can request a case review, which will have the enforcement team take a second
    look at the suspension.

However, since you admit to the lapse in judgement, perhaps take this suspension as the warning it's intended to be? You'll be back with communication privileges soon, and then just remember to follow the code of conduct from here on out. :)
