Latest Update Caused Xbox One Media Remote (OEM) to Stop Recognizing Volume and Mute Commands

I am in the Alpha Preview Program for Xbox Live. On 10/16/2018, my Xbox One Media Remote (OEM, manufactured by Microsoft, not 3rd Party) ceased to function for mute and volume up/down. All other functions work as they should. Following the troubleshooting
article, it seemed I had a remote that needed repair. Went to Best Buy to pick up and try a replacement. While they didn't have the OEM versos of the remote in stock, I picked up a Third Party remote (from PDP) just to try it. It, too has the same issue with
volume up/down and mute not working.

I've tried full power cycling resets of the console itself.

I have the Kinect plugged in using the USB adapter.

I've unplugged everything and re-plugged everything in, just to test connections.

I've reset and restored my OTA channel lineup and reset and re-did my TV setup. (Interestingly, when using the Guided setup, the mute command is successfully sent. Just when I try to use it or volume on the remote, neither works.)

The remote that came with the TV works fine, but I'd like to keep using my Xbox Media Remote for these functions.

    Console Info:

    - Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition

    - OS Version 10.0.17763.3031

    - Kinect Version: 4.0.3917.0:7

    TV Info:

    - TCL 55P605

    - Remote Codes tried: T1756, T2434, T4398 (Currently set to T4398, was set to T1756 prior to October 16)

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    pjk

    :)

xbox one OS version 10.0.10584.1001 TV volume command problems

Alright so I'm a preview member, and after installing the new preview OS I'm unable to use TV commands such as volume up/down or mute. during the device set up where you set up the tv controls and it asks you if the tv is receiving the mute, and info commands
my tv does respond, it mute and un-mutes like normal. Also, then i turn my xbox on/off its turns my tv on or off, but when i tell my xbox "xbox, volume up/down/mute" nothing happens. I've used both voice commands, and the xbox media remote. This is becoming
a problem because the TV's real remote isn't very reliable.

    Media Remote

I think I have the same or similar issue. What's weird is that my Philips HTL2160 soundbar works great using the Kinect voice volume commands but not with the Media Remote. If I use the volume button on the remote my soundbar blinks like something is happening,
but the volume never changes. Yet, the mute button on the remote works fine. Again, the voice commands work fine for volume. Weird. Anyone find a solution?

    Hi Leonzo,

Yes and yes to your questions. Important to note that the last update my console received was on Oct. 16th and that's when I started to experience the issue. I am not sure if that was an Insider's Program update or an overall update for the entire community.

I've been successfully using remote code T1756 per the instructions from the TV manufacturer: TCL | America’s Fastest Growing TV Brand Everything has worked fine until yesterday.

Seeing as a brand-new remote is having the same issues and the OCM remote that came with the TV still works, I'm leaning toward something changing in the console itself as a possible cause.

Hi Stuart - that's exactly what I was looking for! Now I know I'm not crazy that it just "stopped working" one day after being fine for many months.

Seeing as it is a known issue, I'm confident someone's on the case and a fix is forthcoming. Thanks again.
