Latest system update fixed my drive (insert disc error)?

I thought I'd post this because it is so strange. My xbox has been refusing to read any discs for weeks. It could still play games from the marketplace fine. Today when I turned it on it asked whether I wanted to update the console. After clicking yes, and
downloading I could hear the drive spin up and hey presto it works perfectly again. From checking through my achievements, the last achievement I had on a disc-game was the 8th May. So that is around the date when the issue first started. I think there may
have been an update which caused it to stop working in the first place. On or around the 8th May.

I should be annoyed that MS made my xbox faulty for 3 weeks, but to be honest I'm very happy that it's working again.

Sometimes my Xbox One won't read discs.

I deal with this problem when I switch games. No error comes up, it just still says "insert disc." It takes a few tries till it finally works. I also have the latest preview update if that means anything.

Try these steps first.

It sounds like you might have a faulty drive or a faulty disc. Have you tried another disc?

EDIT: Disregard my last line as it sounds more like the update has caused this bug in some X1's and you've just been really unlucky with timing. No doubt MS will fix it soon.

It was definitely the update which fixed it. I tried everything blowing air inside ect. But the drive just wasn't spinning up as normal. I assumed it was the motor which spins the disc. I have a 4 year old 250gb 360-s UK system.

The latest update did not fix the playback issue with Game of Thrones Season 3 on Blu-Ray.

Some users may encounter the error that was causing the Xbox to not read the disc, again, even after updating the Blu-Ray player app.

To work around this, fire up the Blu-Ray app with no disc in your Xbox.

You'll be prompted that there is no disc in your drive.

Insert Game of Thrones season 3 blu-ray into your drive.

Viola, and enjoy.

I tried to play The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind from a disc and Sid Meier`s Pirates from my hard drive. With the latest updates from Xbox Live. Neither worked giving me an error to go to xbox.com/support. I haven't been able to fix the problem. I have an
Xbox 360 Slim 4gb with a 120 gb hard drive that was purchased later and inserted from the slot in the bottom.

could be the latest system update as it reflashes your DVD Drive to support the newer XDG3 discs and some xbox 360 consoles (not all of em) may have disc unreadable errors try.. contacting Support
