    Latency Issues - Australia


    There's a problem occurring with latency. High latency means connecting to multiplayer aspects of games is not possible. I bought a copy of Forza Motorsport 7 a few days ago and it's terrible. Keep getting a high latency message. I've been gaming for years,
    never had this problem before. So, I went back to Forza 6 which never has that problem, been on that for months and now that is doing it as well.

    I'm not buying a new ISP so don't bother suggesting that, everything else works fine. What I want is some information on what is going on and how are you going to fix it.

    I play Black Ops 2 intermittently and my latency is fine in Australia. Could it be a regional thing?

    XBOX ONE latency test

    Tested it out today and earlier this week and it's around 180ms latency/ping. When Xbox 1 first came out it was over 200 (highest was about 260). They must be bringing in more servers, while, at least closer to Australia and New Zealand instead of us always
    having to connect to the US servers. Heard they're bringing 2 data centres to Australia which should drop the ping/latency MUCH more for us in Australia and New Zealand. It's not entirely our ISP's fault, it's where Microsoft "puts" the Xbox Live servers.

    As xCloud isn't available in Australia yet via Azure servers, I'd imagine that you were trying to connect to overseas Data Centres via VPN? might explain the poor latency?

    Halo 5 servers in Australia

    The issue is the complete lack of dedicated servers for Halo 5 in Australia and the resulting high latency. (Typically 130ms and above)
    It's not just you who has high pings mate, it's anyone who plays you. Really, it's you who's ruining the experience for everyone else. /s

    One of the great issues behind non-dedicated servers, but you're not going to find an answer for that.

    I'm in Australia too and also have fibre to the home, but high latency.
