Last gen hold back this gen

Dead Rising 3 : Number of zombies,open world (mostly no loading screens ),Kinect features....

I don't say it's totally futuristic,but it's feels more next gen than previous versions and than most of 3rd party games on Xbox one (vs Xbox 360 versions)

Only the guys from Respawn and Bluepoint Games know for sure on what aspects are different. Bluepoint is porting the Xbox One version to the 360.

As far as the cloud stuff goes, its the same on all platforms.

I see Titanfall being the same game on the 360 like Call of Duty Ghosts was

smaller textures, lower quality shadows, much simpler smoke effects, etc. but essentially the same game.

 

Devs will lose to much money if they drop the old gen. There is what about 8 or 9 million next gen consoles sold combined. Where as for the last gen there is over a 100 million last gen consoles sold. They would be cutting out a huge market. Gradually everyone
will make the switch and then they will stop making games for them .

NEXT-GEN??? Xb1/ps4/pc are simply gaming machines with new hardware that make better graphics. As mentioned before PC is vastly superior to either console making it the ultimate (Next-Gen) machine but it only pumps out the same old stuff.

People need to lower their expectations (NEXT-GEN = New console) that's it.

It's only been 4 months.... Give it some time. I'm playing Tomb Raider right now and I love the fact that I can switch guns/attachments, pause the game, pull up the map, etc.... just by speaking to the Kinect.

4+ Million Xb1 Sold compared 80+ Million 360 Sold.... That's why Devs need to focus on both consoles for now. It's about profit and not going bankrupt.

 

@Randver lol at your Dynasty Warriors comment. A 100 soldiers on screen (comprised of both ally and enemy) with the enemy randomly disappearing in front of your attack because of poor draw distances is not anywhere near on par with what Dead Rising 3 accomplished.
I'm sorry but Dead Rising 3 shows exactly what you get with a next gen focus.

 

@Burst Axe - The draw distance is less of a problem in the newer ones, it was replaced with frame rate drops and now they seem to have got their act together.

My point was actually more mobs on the screen doesn't mean better gameplay. I see "next gen" as " wow that's a cool feature, never seen that before" rather than adding a couple hundred zombies for me to run over.

 

DRAM is where a cross platform title would suffer. Map size is a great example. Games do get limited to some degree when they are designed to accommodate a lowest common denominator. A PC game developer still has to set a minimum requirement and build the
game to work with that. If you don't have the minimum you don't play. Including the 360 means IT'S your minimum. Internet speeds are another good example. Some have fiber that runs at 100 meg speeds, but they get to play games that are made for probably 1.5
meg so everyone can be accommodated.

 

@Randver More mobs on screen does mean better gameplay. It directly adds to the gameplay as you will be killing stuff more frequently. Both problems plagued by the Dynasty Warriors series are serious issues that we won't or rather, shouldn't see with stronger
consoles. If that doesn't mean next gen then I don't know what does.

 

I don't know where to start on this one,, ok,, For starters OP, there is no way in the world that support for the ps3 and 360 as anything to do with what ever it is you're expecting from the xb1 or ps4. New consoles are new consoles, this meaning we have
some time to go before it's the norm to have one. Finally, the leap in technology is not as massive as ps1 was to ps2, or saturn to dreamcast, it's impressive but not mind boggling.

 

Defiantly!! There is no doubt that we are being held back by the xbox 360, the games are developed FOR the 360, makes the Xbox One handicapped! For the next 4 years!! Sure there is exclusives, I can only think of RYSE, Dead Rising 3, an NO other exclusive
Xbox One Game.

 

There is no doubt that last gen is hampering next gen at this point. Give it a year or two.

 

Xbox 360 is still highly popular. Compare the number of peps who play on Xbox 1 to Xbox 360. So there is demand for it there too.

Not everyone from Xbox 360 has brought an Xbox 1. And since Xbox 360 can do many things Xbox related, which Xbox 1 may not be able to do yet (recent players list, awesome Xbox Live Party system, voice messages, easier to use Dashboard, can add a picture/theme
to the Dashboard background, beacon and friend notifications, etc). Only about 10 of my friends play on Xbox 1 and all of them return to playing on Xbox 360. Xbox 1 hasn't been out for even 4 months yet. Give it some time. The fact that Xbox 1 has received
a lot of criticism and feedback is another factor.
