Last gen hold back this gen

dropping the X360 put on towards the X1 development. Publisher only give some much money out so putting all that money towards the next gen console gives us the next gen things.

 

Using Titanfall as an example. the only difference in the game will be in the graphics department The 360 version is using the same maps, same number of players and Titans. Same Azure servers.

 

And that's my question......What next gen things?

All I've seen from the "next gen" is better console graphics that still aren't on par with the PC. That's about all any new console has brought to the table over the previous version. I'm not sure what you guys think is supposed to be happening.

 

At some point when more than half of the 360 users have moved on to the X1, it would be at THAT TIME wise to start focusing on exclusive X1 game development.

 

@Bird125 Both versions could have bigger maps, more players and Titans. It's not the fault of the 360.

Lower resolution on the 360 allows for the same content just not as pretty.

 

Next gen thing are things like better more advise AI. Better battles in games. And all that good thing that we brought next gen console for. And console graphics will never be par with PC.

 

The things you think are ""next gen" have nothing to do with the console.

Look back 10, 20 years in gaming. We had better gameplay, content and depth in games than we do today. We have better graphics and everything else has suffered.

Blame the gaming community ( influx of Facebook, tablet, phone gamers ) and the developers for wanting to not take risk and turning out the same product over and over, just changing the name.

PC gaming is turning around so hopefully the consoles will follow. It'll be the small indie developers giving us what we want not the big publishers and certainly not a console.

 

Dead Rising 3 has 1000 zombies onscreen, doubt 360 or PS3 could do that.

Dynasty Warriors series has had 100's of bad guys on the screen for years, Ryse had a couple dozen yet is hailed as an example of "next gen". I'm not sure how the number of mobs on the screen makes a game better or worse.

[/quote]Except that the whole programming structure is different, so how much of the source code will be cross platform?

 

Forza 5 is "next gen",Dead Rising 3 is "next gen"....

We are in the early days....But if devs wants to do a next gen version of theirs last gen games,they must/should not just adds some improvement in the graphics....

 

In a way I feel sorry for devs. Imagine you worked for two years. You didn't get paid (I'm talking about the company, not the individual). And at the end of it all in comes a pay check finally. Maybe. All the while you have your publisher on your back, pushing
you to get the game out. In your heart you know it's not finished but you have to put it out or the publisher may cut funding. Then after two years you might have to scrap the whole project. So you release it even though it's not finished and then you become
the target of the consumer. You try to fix a game that you didn't want to release yet in the first place and your reputation is down the toilet. I've seen some great companies' reputations destroyed because of one bad game. It must really be a hard and cut
throat business. Definitely glad it's not me!

 

@Tzar - What is next gen about those games? The fact they were released for only the One?

I think most people would agree Forza 4 was a better game than Forza 5. DR3 having a 1000 zombies on screen makes it next gen? If that's the case I can see why everyone is concerned. I didn't even finish DR3, generic zombie hacker with some of the longest
load screens in the history of gaming.

 

I wouldn't say they should stop supporting the old gen (that's crazy) but I do agree that some games need to just focus on one or the other. I really think a game like Thief would have benefited more from this. I'm sure games like TitanFall and Destiny will
be fine though. Dying Light on the other hand, I'm not too sure. I would be very cautious picking it up for the 360 or PS3 lol.

With that said I'm really looking forward to the new gen only games, Evolve, The Division, Quantum Break, The Wither 3, etc.

 

Yea thief was a huge disappoint for me cuz of the loading ever place I went I felt like I was on x360. That what I talking about.
