    Large filesize photos displayed in Media Player are only fuzzy previews


    When I try and view some of my photos in the Media Player app, it's only displaying fuzzy, previews of the images, not the clear, full version.

    This seems to be happening to all the pictures I have in all folders which have a filesize of over 2-3Mb. Any small images (e.g. a few 100Kb) get displayed correctly.

    The photos are saved on a Synology DS212J on my local network. I'm sure it used to briefly show the fuzzy preview whilst it streamed the full version of the file in the background, but now the proper version of the file never gets displayed.

    Does anyone else have this issue displaying largish images clearly in Media Player and is there a fix?

    You're picture maybe to large (in resolution and filesize). Please use an image with 1920x1080px and 96dpi.

    Blurry photos using the Media player (through DLNA)

    For some reason, when I try to access photos taken by my S6, they appear very blurry/pixelated, almost as if it's displaying a very small thumbnail instead of the full picture.

    I'm accessing the photos through the Media Player via DLNA (MyBookLive). This only occurs with photos taken by my Samsung S6, and it only happens with the media player on the Xbox One. So it's not the server itself.

    Is this a known issue?

    OK, ignore me. I've just applied the latest patch to my DS212J and rebooted it and now the large images are being displayed correctly as well

    Xbox One Media Player - Fail

    Add to that the Media Player's inability to display any photos taken in portrait orientation. Just showing me the middle section of a photo without the ability to zoom out is pointless.

    Yes, I'm having the same bad experience with Media Player. Does nobody at Microsoft test anything? Why would you not display photos in portrait orientation? Back to the PS3 for me too.

    I'm having the same problem with photos on my Synology NAS taken on a Canon 6D. They display fine on other devices such as an iPad but are very low res on the media player app. Any help appreciated.
