Large 70GB MSIXVC File that I cant delete due to permissions

    Hi,

I currently seem to have an issue with leftover install files whilst using the Xbox (Beta) App.

I have a 70GB file named 1E66A3E7-2F7B-461C-9F46-3EE0AEC64B8C within the MSIXVC folder that I cant remove and is taking up 70GB on my SSD. From what I've gathered these are leftover files from an installation (Possibly Gears 5) that havent been cleaned up.

If anyone has experienced this or has a solution please let me know.

    Thanks

    :)

    Heyo!

I seen this was only posted 8 days ago, so hopefully you can help me with my issue, the same as OP's.

70GB file in that folder. Issue is, it's part of the "System Restore" section of the drive as I need to restore for some PC issues.

I've tried giving myself permissions to the folder, making myself the admin, removing inheritance, etc. I even used 3rd party file deletion software that targets "unknown files" left behind after restores, or anything else. It didn't work. My main drive is
being choked to death by this file. I have 15GB remaining when I should have 90GB. The file will not delete, no matter what I do. Hopefully, you can help!

Yes, that's what happened with me and Halo MCC. The files were grayed out with x icon on them taking up 15gb. All those accounts you blurred out, assign yourself full control on all of them that say your user name, and Admin. This is an example of my HDD
for games. There is still a conflict of user control since your being asked for permission from yourself. I also got that message, so you almost got it. Since you're only trying to remove a game file that will not effect your OS, assign full control to all
Principal users for the file. Then you should be able to delete the file and recover your storage. Empty the recycle bin after you get it deleted so it isn't restored accidentally. I'm guessing that you're trying to avoid Windows recovery or just formatting
the drive to purge it. Last thing I wanted to do was reinstall 2tb of games on the drive. This should work though.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I was explaing what worked for me on one game. Sometimes the uninstall process doesn't remove all the files the first time properly. I also had the same issue with Halo MCC, and I had to do extensive troubleshooting to
get the files removed after I uninstalled the game. If you're having the same issue as the original thread poster, have you tried changing ownership of the files to get them removed. In my case with Halo MCC, all the files had an X icon on all the files. They
were taking up the space, yet invisible to any commands such as delete, or delete with admin permissions. I finally got all the files removed by changing ownership of the files. You can see that Xbox and Microsoft list App Permissions so users know what to
expect before installing the game. If you need help in how to get these files removed, let us know what you've tried so far, so we know where to start to better help you.

You guys are really messing up on this one...

The OP had a folder with 70 GB, MSIXVC folder is 218 GB in size. ALL games are installed and work properly in the Xbox App. It's just leftover files clogging up literally 25% of my SSD.

I can't believe Microsoft is so bad at this they can't even get the basics down. Installing an application or program isn't a new concept.
