Laptop wouldn't detect headset microphone

Hello,

So i bought a Razer kraken X and I tried connecting it to my laptop ,which is an Acer Nitro 5, SO when I connect it I can hear everything from the headset but when I test the microphone the input is still from the built-in microphone in my laptop. I did many test like putting the headset away and clapping to make sure if the sound was coming from the built-in mic and it was. I want to know how to fix this issue by making the sound input my headset microphone, not the laptop one. And btw my laptop only has one aux jack which is labeled for both headphone and microphone.

Assuming your headset gives audio when connected to another device (which would point to the headset working okay).

Found a couple of solutions on the Acer forum:

"Hey there - just adding if you haven't solved it. I was having this problem but managed to get it to work by doing the following: Click the windows/start button > type realtek > open ' Realtek Audio Console ' > ' Device Advanced Settings' (at the bottom left) > change the connector retasking to ' Headset '. Should now work hopefully!"

"I finally solved my mic issue, it's not perfect but it works.

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > HD Audio Manager(I have Realtek HD Audio drivers), double click on Analog button and set current device to headset. Now all the apps will use the headset's mic but it will still not show up in Playback and Recording devices. I hope somebody will find this helpful."

I see. Yes, mine use just one jack input Kareem.

yes mine does but it doesnt change anything if i turn it on or off. and btw does your razer use single audio jack input?

That's odd, for some reason your PC is not recognizing the mic on the headset.

You know I do have a Razer too, but mine is the Electra v2, there's a switch on mine that turns off the mic, doesn't your have the same switch perhaps?

Make sure your microphone is connected to your PC.

Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.

In Sound settings, go to Input > Choose your input device, and then select the microphone or recording device you want to use.
