    About 2 weeks ago, I downloaded ARK: Survival Evolved to play with some friends, and it worked fine, then about 2 days ago I installed Fallout New Vegas (both games came from gamepass for pc) and every time I try to load up the game, my computer says it ran into a problem and has to restart. It happened with a few other games I downloaded within the last week. I tried some solutions like updating some clock settings, updating to Win11, and making sure my drivers were up to date. None of these things worked and I just want to go explore the wastelands. Any solutions?

    Thank you for the detailed reply, OGNathy.

    For now, we would highly suggest for you to disable the antivirus you mentioned above. We actually notice customers to be having issue launching game and had BSOD. Though this is not same scenario with the concern you have they find a resolution of disabling antivirus to resolve it. Kindly update us with any findings you have.

    Upon searching for the error code you have shared - 0x80070006, this is somehow related to Windows update. However, if we consider the error message it comes with, it might be related to bulk copy/back up/cloning/Volume Shadow Copy of hdd to another or of games or of files with the use of an app. To be honest, I'm not familiar with this however if you need further assistance we can have this checked with the Windows Support Team by moving this thread or you might like to check on this support article - Volume Shadow Copy Service.

    But before that, give us an update on how disabling the antivirus goes and try updating your PC. We will look forward for your reply.

    The same thing has been happening to me when I try to launch, Destroy All Humans, and Ring of Pain.

    I currently use Norton Antivirus, I have a Intel Core i5-8400 4.0 GHz CPU on a ROG Strix Z390-I. My GPU is a GTX 1660, my ram is 16GB's (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200. I have space of my computers storage too.

    I downloaded the games off of the Xbox desktop app, I didn't buy them but got them free with the Xbox Game Pass. I made sure all my graphics drivers and windows OS was up to date, then tired again to the same result. This has only happened with those two games so far so I am not sure that the issue is. I'll put what the event logs after the restart, said below.

    The error says in my event logs:

    "Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error calling routine QueryFullProcessImageNameW. hr = 0x80070006, The handle is invalid.

    When I turned off automatic restart I could run Ring of Pain for about 5 minutes before the same error occurred and forced my computer to restart.

    I'm not sure what the error code means but I hope this helps fix the issue!

    We understand that you were trying to launch the games you installed in your laptop. Let us check on this together and sort this out in timely manner.

    There are other reasons to consider why launching these games ends up with restart. First, we need to consider overheat, incompatibility, 3rd party apps that restricts launching of suspicious apps, low storage space, bad GPU and many more to consider. We'd like to suggest you to perform this step to stop the restart from happening however you can skip this step if you already performed it or unnecessary and let us know by sending a reply.

    1. In your keyboard, please press Windows Logo + Pause or go to PC Settings > System > About.
    2. Go to Advanced system settings. Next, select Settings under Startup and Recovery.
    3. Then, uncheck the Automatically restart. Press the Ok's to save the settings.
    4. Kindly launch one game (either ARK: Survival Evolved or Fallout New Vegas) and see if issue persist and if it display an error please take a screenshot and post it in here (do not forget to conceal any personal information).

    1. Do you have any antivirus, antimalware, VPN, firewall and PC Optimizer installed in PC?
    2. Is there an error message/code that prompted before the restart?
    3. May we ask for your laptop's specs?

    6. When did this issue happen? Was there a recent Windows update or new application installed on your device?
