laptop not working with Xbox controller and headset simultaneously

Are you familiar with how to change the audio output device in Windows? I think this might be something that could be switched when both are connected and perhaps the controller is taking over audio output function. To switch, click your speaker icon (volume icon) near the clock and then at the top of that popup, click the current audio device and see if it lets you switch back to the typical one.

Some audio cards/drivers have a feature where they switch to the newest connected device anytime it notices something getting connected. Sometimes they offer an audio control panel to pick your own preference or sometimes it can't be adjusted although it could be under numerous different names. It'd really take looking up the manual for your computer to find out how they implemented it, since it's not a function Microsoft Windows provides itself.

It will work with the following: -

• Up to 8 wireless controllers simultaneously without headsets
  
• Up to 4 wireless controllers simultaneously with mono single ear headsets
  
• Up to 2 wireless controllers simultaneously with stereo headsets
  

As it uses Xbox Wireless (the same wireless protocol that Xbox consoles use), you get more functionality than you would get if you were using Bluetooth. It also supports all official accessories, such as the Chatpad.

With Bluetooth, MS recommend you only use 1 controller at a time and accessories are not supported.

The headset is brand new. I have trued 4 controllers none of them work. The headset works on my laptop. The microphone with the criss through shows whether or not i have a headset plugged into a controller. Headsets have worked in the past on these controllers.
Believe it to be a microsoft issue. Many people complaining about the same issue online.
