Language/Region problem

I'm currently living in China and i was not aware (nor anybody told me) that the XBOX One, which is offered here, is region locked.

I could not return it to the shop and also Microsoft wouldn't help me until now (i opened a ticket, it was transferred but i never got a reply). But now i've read that the lock is somehow lifted with the last firmware upgrade. Until now i couldn't change
the region/language to something i can understand better than chinese.

Can you give me more detailed Information about the lock? Is there a possibility that i can really use the XBOX in the future?

xbox one language. english in austria/germany?

Sadly, there's no way to set the system language to English if you don't live in an English speaking country. I have the same problem, I absolutely hate the Brazilian Portuguese dubbed games and keep my settings as English/Canada (because Canada is more awesome, sorry US), but can't use credit card or Xbox Movies without resetting the system.
For now, the best we can do is vote in one of the several Xbox Feedback demands to dissociate languages from region on Xbox or let you download games on a language different from the system language.

Language Problem

There is a HUGE problem with the language setting on xbox. It's kind of region locked so you cant just choose the language you want. Check this thread on the feedback forum. I have the same problem. My Belgian xbox is mostly french...

Sorry to hear it. However, seeing as you've already opened a ticket with support I would recommend contacting them again to see what's been going on with that.

As I wrote, i opened the ticket at Microsoft Germany, got the ticket number, it was transferred to Microsoft China and nothing happened... Sorry, not quite true. I received a mail how satisfied i am with the service.

I also tried to contact Microsoft China directly via phone, but there i only got a standard answer: "cannot help you with giving it back to the retailer (who asked for a note from the vendor to take it back)" and "changing language is not possible"

Calling th support in Europe/USA is also a bit difficult, so i hoped i can get some advice here ;-)

You are correct, one of the latest console updates does remove the region lock from Chinese consoles.

If you have updated your console you should be able to edit your console settings to change language and region.
