Language Localisation

Hello,

To whoever can assist me in this matter.

Since the latest update as of this week my country has finally been added to the system settings. First I would like to state that I did buy an Xbox One from Amazon before it was available in my country, namely Belgium. Pretty much everybody I know did this
and already have an Xbox One console running here. As a side note I would like to mention it was a very poor decision of Microsoft not to release globally, with all sorts of discrepancies as a result.

My main issue now is that in Microsoft's overzealous effort to localise languages in Europe they never thought to include the default English option in my country and most likely others. Although I appreciate the effort that Microsoft is trying to support
almost all languages available, I DO NOT want to be forced to use any language in a specific region. Now of course I can change my country back to United States, but then I am not able to use my credit card because it is localised in my country and Xbox Live
makes an issue out of that. Furthermore most of these translations are ridiculous and some of them are just straight bad, also the placeholders on the dashboard sometimes are wrong.

My country has 3 official languages: Dutch, French and German. German is outright not supported in Belgium and the other two have mixed support; e.g. I speak Dutch so I've adjusted it, but I still receive achievements in French.

I'm sure many people who have migrated to another country would like to change to the language that they prefer most. Just imagine an American living in France forced to use their Xbox in French, how would you feel? I cannot understand why countries have
to be locked to a specific language and I would like default English support for all localisations at least. But what would be better is that ALL languages are supported for every country.

So anyone who can assist me please take notice, also everyone who agrees with me please sign this petition.

Why the Heck isnt Xbox one coming to the Middle East untill next year?!

Language support probably difficult in that region. Truth be known an English X1 will probably be a US tweaked version of English. Localisation will not even be on the radar. They will hit Europe fist most likely.

 

Achievements are in the wrong language!

this is something that's popped up before - it sounds like its might be a localisation issue where achievements will apparently display in the language where your IP locates you.

I have a couple of things for you to try - if you use a VPN to connect your console back to the US do they then show in English? Also try to view your achievements in using SmartGlass app on your phone and see what language its in.

 

1+ on this subject. I'm an English foreigner living in France and this restriction is just plain annoying. Please allow English to be visible in all regions.

As a fellow Belgian i am facing the same issue.

However i kept my Xone in US settings for the Language and deal with the live problems.

And yet i am still forced with French achievements.

So clearly they are going by the IP used on the Xbox.
