Language and Location and Xbox Store

Hi!

I have a problem using the Xbox Store when I change my language from Norwegian to English, as my Language region is very limited. (Can't choose English (Norway).

Location is set to Norway as that is where I am and this is the country where my credit card is issued.

I tried to get a one month ESO Plus memebership for Elder Scrolls Online but the store wouldn't sell it to me because of Language and Language Region were set to English/ English (UK).

I speak Norwegian but I prefer to have it set up in English. Also as I wanted to see what Cortana was all about.

This was never a problem on the 360.

Locations and languages

I have moved from the UK to Germany, and so updated both my Microsoft account and my xbox location accordingly.

As a result, I now see game prices in the Euro currency, but when I made my first purchase from the Microsoft Store (Jade Empire) it downloaded the game with German speech and German subtitles, even though my Xbox language is set to English (UK).

As far as I know, because my payment details have a German address, I need to keep my account location as Germany, but how do I go about playing new store/marketplace purchases in English if the Xbox is ignoring my language settings when I purchase games
from my new location?

Is there a way to change my account location to Italy (where I live) while keeping the console text in English?

this was a big complaint for a long time. i think people have said that a recent update allows you to change your region and language separately. (also only being able to use 12hr clock in USA, and 24hr clock in other regions.) if you are unable to set
Norway/English, then you may need to update. if you are fully up to date, then your only option may be to purchase this membership in Norweigan, then change back to English after purchasing.

I noticed English as Language Region covered some non-English speaking countries but not many.

you can try going to Xbox Ideas, powered by UserVoice and requesting English to be added as a language option for Norway. perhaps they will add it in time, with enough support.

according to the response to that request here:

that seems like it should already be an option. "Language Region Independence allows you to choose ANY supported language on Xbox One, regardless of the location." so English should be available in ANY region, if i understand that correctly.

this is supposed to be included in the Xbox One Summer Update. you may want to check that your console is fully updated. you can see what the newest version numbers are and what they include here:

OS version: 10.0.14393.1018 (released July 30) should have the Language Region Independence included.

newest is OS version: 10.0.14393.1040 (released August 19). hope that helps.

Hi Ivan,

What language are you trying to play the game in and what region do you have the Xbox set to? These two should be the same in order to get the version of the game for the respective Microsoft Store of the location you have the console set to. The location
on the console determines the Microsoft Store you are purchasing from and the languages of the games available will primarily be determined by the locations settings and not the language settings. The language settings are meant for what language you see in
your settings and Home menu.

If you are looking to play this game in Czech language, you should have your Location set to the Czech Republic and have a valid billing address from this region.

Try updating that information and have the Location set correctly.
