LAN for 2 Racing Sim setups?

I've recently bought 2 racing sim setups to give us something to do over lockdown (at least 1 month in UK now). I've bought 2 x Xbox One S so that each sim has it's own. I assumed i'd be able to connect the 2 Xbox together to play against each other. Having
googled it (alot!) i can't seem to find out how to get this sorted. Some recommendations said connect the 2 and they'll just talk to each other and sort it out but that did nothing. Only way i can see to do it at the moment is to do it online but that means
both being online when my broadband isn't that great in the first place and worst still both having to sign up to xbox live and pay a monthly fee just to play against the person sat next to me! Any ideas/suggestions/help gratefully received!

running 2 xbox ones on the same BB connection should be ok, it is just the downloads but you can download to one and have that transfer to the other if you enable network transfer under network settings, this would save having to download the games twice..

oh damn that's annoying! Thanks for the reply though, and when you say hardly any, does that mean there are some and if so any idea where to find a list?

thanks again, nothing racing based then :-( Might just have to try the free month of live then and see if it's going to be enough fun to warrant a permanent subscription!

all that comes to mind is the halo masterchief collection, cod ghosts and cod ww2, some others and any of the backward compatable games that supported system link.

hardly any games on xbox support lan to lan play these days, they have to literally be connected to xbox live and that means playing over live.
