    My router logs frequent attempts to access my home network via the port I assigned to my Xbox One. These attempts, from peculiar places like Chine and Russia occur at all times, with the exception of when I turn all power to the Xbox One off. Otherwise,
    this is an example (a short one as the log can be hundreds of lines long if I keep the power flowing to my Xbox)::

    I find this concerning and would like to learn if some *&^%*& identified and is using some flaw within Xbox One to try and access my home network.

    Best router settings to improve latency/lag? Netgear R7000 Nighthalk, Qos, etc.

    Important Update Important!

    With my suggested settings, everything worked awesome at first. Then I started having some issues. I checked the system log and saw some weird activity to my xbox one (192.168.1.8)

    There are many weird ports that are not used by xbox live. I believe that may have been the cause of my issues.

    I reset WAN settings (Firewall) to default.

    I will continue to troubleshoot getting the best connection while preventing this weird activity.

    I Though XBLOnly Used Ports 88, 3074, 53 And 80.

    In the example below my router log is showing connections from public IPs to my Xbox’s private IP on ports 26917, 41411 and 3115. When this happens the game (Halo 4 in this example) lags.

    I though Xbox live only used ports 88, 3074, 53 and 80.

    If I block traffic on ports other than 88, 3074, 53 and 80 will this cause problems?

    Streaming Xbox One games to a Windows 10 PC over the internet stopped working

    I used a DNS service to connect to my console from work for years but about three months ago i also started to have this problem thanks to some research and no help from microsoft i finally just did a post on Reddit and received some information that Microsoft
    have done a system update on Xbox One that no longer allows remote streaming from outside of the LAN (Local Area Network) the console and the PC's IP Address must be on the same subnet in order to work.

    I now use a VPN to access my console.

    I believe they have done this because Microsoft X-Cloud is coming and why allow access to a remote console when you can sell a service to people that does the same and make money from it.

    Hi taidara. So I'm using a SMC8014WG, and as far as I can tell, it doesn't even support UPnP. It does have something called Access Control, which it defines as follows:

    By default all the access attemption from Internet to the LAN would be blocked no matter what destination it would be. In the NAT page, users can set up the port forwarding for the private LAN. Here, users can set up the accessing rules to allow the Internet
    users to access the public LAN service directly. The maximum total number allowed for predefined and customer-defined accessing rules is 35.

    During the set up I clicked no to allowing remote access or something, being able to turn the system on from the phone etc… I went back and changed that to yes allow remote access and i was able to get past this screen
