  1. Lag, lag, lag. Firmware problem?

If i try to send a message on the X1, I get huge input lag to the point where it becomes pointless trying. (spaces in the wrong place, letters taking 10 seconds to appear on screen etc etc).

When I'm playing a game, Fifa for example (which records clips automatically), I'll be playing and when I get a notification about a game clip being recorded it will stay on screen for a few minutes at a time, blocking the screen and becoming rather annoying.

When I do the power reset on the console (hold power button in until the console turns off), everything will be fine again and all will work as it should do ... for a few days, and then it goes back to being laggy and horrible again.

This has been happening for a while now. Anyone know what's going on?

    :)

  2. Call of Duty: Ghosts will have dedicated servers

Quite honestly there can still be lag. Dedicated servers dont typically negate lag issues. However, there will
be no more host advantage and host dashboards. Your connection will determine if you lag or not.

    Lag, lag, lag. Firmware problem?

Having VDSL or Fibre Broadband may help instead of having regular ADSL Broadband speeds, since VDSL and Fibre offer faster down and up speeds. Check Xbox Live Status too. Anything else could be blamed on the Xbox 1 console's software (Dashboard/OS). M does
and will release updates to help improve the software which runs on Xbox 1. I still find it interesting how a console with better hardware specs than Xbox 360 sometimes can lag. Some say it's to do with the limited cache and need to clear it and stuff. I find
that the Xbox 360's current UI is much more user friendly and I love the way it is. And the 360 UI is ALSO web based like Xbox 1 is. Maybe do a speed test of your internet connection on your PC and console. Hope this info helps.

  5. I'm running 30mb broadband (which is very consistent), it's definitely not my internet that is the problem.

If it's limited cache (which i assume is cleared when I hard reset?), then surely I shouldn't have to do this every few days?

    Anyway, cheers for the reply.

    You're welcome.

Hmmm good topic to bring up with the cache. Since I joined Xbox in late 2010 with an Xbox 360 Slim 250gb console, I have NEVER cleared the cache. Have had at least 25 games on it but only frequently play like 9 of the games, about 8 apps, and have never
had to "clear cache" or do anything to the hardware/software on my 360 slim console which makes it laggy. And Xbox 360's current UI isn't lag lag lag. Yet it may look like you need to do a hard reset a bit more frequently on Xbox 1. I'm sure this isn't what
next gen is about having to hard-reset or clear the cache regularly. I actually heard reddit in one of his videos that Xbox 1 has an AMD 8 core Jaguar APU which has "really good cache". The issue may lie with the cache size on the [antiquated] 5400rpm HDD
they went with on Xbox 1. I know peps may say reddit is a Pro PS pep but he offers some educational lessons.

  7. I've had the same issue with the input lag delay and asked around about it. I know it may seem like a cheap fix, but the hard reset has always fixed this issue for me temporarily. I advise that you start doing a hard reset on a regular basis at least once
a week to avoid this issue. It's what I do. For example, I turn mine completely off every Sunday night and turn it back on every Monday morning for the start of a fresh week. Lag, lag, lag. Firmware problem? ;)

It has nothing to do with internet connection.

Make sure you close apps when you are done so they aren't running in the background. I rarely ever get this issue. I've only had to hard reset a handful of times since I got my console on launch.

  10. @Galactic Geek I'm having to do the hard reset every 3 or 4 days at the moment (as stated in original post) to 'fix' the lag problem. This is kinda ridiculous though.

Any others experiencing this? Any word on if Xbox are aware of this and plan a fix?

Again, I assume it's firmware related since I definitely didn't have this problem at launch.

@Merlin4421 I always close whatever I had open, so literally I'm running 1 thing at a time. This isn't the problem, but thanks for the suggestion. Lag, lag, lag. Firmware problem? :)

Most of the time mine is ok, it has it's moments when achievement notification's take a while to sod off. I never close any apps or whatever I'm doing. I also never turn the X1 off fully.

I've used "Energy Saver" since the 2nd or 3rd day I've owned the One and have never had a problem since. Not being able to use "X Box On" seems like a small concession for a flawless experience.

    Peace, J.R.
