  1. Lack of Transparency on the reason for bans

I was advised to create a post here to discuss a recent communication and playing online ban that I received for the next two weeks. I am quite disappointed that you are told a vague reason for the ban, but yet no evidence or reasoning is given behind it,
and it seems final. Despite case reviews, i've never seen a ban/suspension overturned.

I was recently suspended for "harassment", but I rarely enter game chat, or send messages to people - and when I do, i'm incredibly careful about what I say to avoid the arbitrary reporting and subsequent banning system.

It's little wonder that Xbox is losing a lot of its playerbase to PS4/PC (and even Nintendo consoles), when they randomly dole out bans and suspensions with little to no warning given to the account owner.

To add insult to injury, most games nowadays (most worthwhile games, anyway) are ONLINE-ONLY, thus meaning I cannot play anything until the end of my suspension, in two weeks.

I'm hoping the case review comes down on my side, or at the very least informs me why I was banned, so I can get back to playing my games that I pay good money for.

    :)

  2. Account suspension & lack of transparency

Hello, I've recently received a account communications suspension on my Xbox live account and find the lack of transperency very disturbing.

Let me begin by saying, I've been a Xbox live member for somewhere around 10 years straight and have invested thousands of dollars of my own hard earned money and countless hours of my time in the service. I am a fan of the Xbox live service aswell as Microsoft
    as a whole.

However, today I returned home from a tough day at work. All I could think about was getting online and chatting/playing games with friends as I always do (some of which I haven't seen in years as we have our own separate lives now)... Only to be greeted
by a notification about a account suspension which prevents me from playing/speaking to my friends, for an undisclosed reason.

I found the notification surprising given that I haven't been on Xbox playing in over a week because I've been busy with work. Confused, I decided to look into the matter and contact Xbox support (which i would soon figure out is INFINITELY easier said than
done). So I Checked my suspension details and was left with no explanation or answers only more questions.

After checking the details, a "questionaire" was brought to my attention. Apparently, I needed to finish a quick survey/questionaire in order to have my case reviewed. Already a little irritated with the current lack of answers and transparency, aswell
as this overly intricate means of resolving these issues I proceeded to the questions.

Now, I dont know where to begin when i tell you about the amount of non-sense from this point on that i had to endure. I honestly thought it was a joke...

They give you TWO, 2 attempts at completing the questions every 24 hours... If you fail ONE, 1 question you have to restart (bare in mind they only allow 2 trys a day)... If you wish to take the quiz any subsequent times they charge you a fee (I pay over
$60 a year for a membership as it is, plus games, dlc and accessories. Why do they need more from me?)

The questions are VERY vague and in some cases aren't clearly outlined in ANY terms of service (I failed a question about having a "purple avatar". As i thought an avatar was a gamerpic as it is in many games I play. Forgeting completely that it was a character
assigned to each account since Xbox 360. I was completely unaware of the infraction of changing a avatars colors and also unaware of its possibility. However now that it's been brought to my attention i question whether or not it violates xbox TOS. As it seems
a little discriminatory against purple people.... I also failed another question that stated "if I receive enough complaints I'll probably be banned even if I didn't do anything" to which I replied "yes" aside from the fact this is a widely accepted notion
in the community. It is NOT specifically discussed in the TOS.

How about instead of jumping through all these hoops and answering your -in my humble opinion- stupid questions about my knowledge of the TOS(or lack there-of). How about instead; give a clear, concise explanation of the infraction made/how long the ban
or suspension will remain in effect. And just maybe provide questionaire free/hassle free case reviews FRER of charge to your PAID subscription members. Since that kind of is what they are paying for.

Account suspension & lack of transparency

Avatar color can only be altered by outside means. Thus breaking the terms against system tampering. Contrary to the widely accepted thought, it only takes 1 report for a user to be investigated by the enforcement team. The more
complaints on a user does not mean they will get banned. This is outlined on the

    Enforcement
    website itself.

The enforcement team does not use these forums. So the only thing you can do at this point is wait for another chance to take the questionnaire or wait for the ban to lift.

    You are warned.

    The ToU/CoC are your warning.

You are told why you were banned/suspended via email or on the enforcement site here

As per the ToU/CoC you agreed to the enforcement team are under no obligation to show you any evidence they have.

The ban will never tell you what for even after the case review. And sorry to say, but Xbox could careless if you can get your games back if you already paid for them.

Incorrect. You are always told the reason for a ban/suspension.

As per the ToU/CoC you forfeit all digital content, remaining gold etc. if you are permanently banned. You agreed to this when starting your account.

As long as your xbox is you home console you can still use a banned account & it's content while not connected to live, you can not re download that content though.

You get enough warnings so if you lose your content due to your account getting banned there's no one to blame but yourself.

I recently had a two week ban and what's weird is, I was not given a notice that I'd be banned online from all games for one week. For the first week I was able to play but not communicate then for the final week I was banned out of the blue. Really ridiculous,
to add insult to injury the ban was lifted hours ago and i still cannot play. Gl to you..

You are told the general description of what your ban falls under. I.E. harassment or communications. However you are not told anything other than that.

You're incorrect Daft, if that were to happen in the real world you would file a police report and it would be considered theft. I don't know how people don't see something wrong with this issue.

I'm not incorrect. How can it be theft if you agreed to it?

If you think it's wrong then why did you agree to the ToU/CoC ?

Theft is when someone takes something of yours without your permission or knowledge.

If you are banned then you forfeit your digital content which means you can never download that content again on that account.

You gave your permission for this & in doing so you also have knowledge that this will happen.

So I am 100% correct,it is not theft.
