    KOA: Reckoning

I bought this game couple weeks ago while they had it on sale. Tonight I tryed to play it and it keeps freezing at the load screen after you click on new game. I have deleted the cache and a game so that I have enough hdd space and it still does this. Any
suggestions? I bought Bioshock Infinite when it was on sale and that worked.

    :)

Delete the online pass if you downloaded the free one off of Xbox Live as the online pass is included with the game already. A lot of people had this issue. The games on demand version includes the online pass in the download but a lot of people also download
the online pass for free off of the marketplace or in store and it causes the online passes to butt heads with each other and make it freeze...after deleting the online pass you should be in there like swimwear.

I played it some before my brothers friend took it back so i hope to build a toon for blacksmithing dispelling and stealth but not sure if it can be done.

The mass effect armour caused me to have freezing problems.

As soon as i stopped using it the problems stopped.

  9. @Owen..Oh that would suck bud as i always wear that until it's really time to change it. Just started a game the other day and put that gear on. That is strange though as i wouldn't even know what to suggest or what would cause that and from the beginning
it's really handy armor...i know the weapons dlc pack as some serious issues as well but i never bought that.

@FloorBoss..That's what i love about KoA is the ability to personally make your character anything and anyway you choose. A mage that wields two-handed hammers, A rogue that is also a master mage. or even a combo of all three..it's very robust in freedom
    compared to most.

S'a fun game. I like a mage/thief combo myself. Can't beat some of the sneak kill animations on the big enemies. =)

  12. I bought this on sale too. Think the DLC was on sale a month or so earlier but missed it.

YellowJacket. Did you even enjoy the DLC? Please tell me this game is so much better than the god awful Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen Edition?

    KOA: Reckoning

If you don't like DDKOA: Reckoning :DA I doubt you'll like KoA, man. Although you might be more forgiving of it since it shares an aesthetic with the Fable games.

Neither Amalur nor Dragon's Dogma sport tightly woven narratives that guide the player, nor do they have particularly memorable characters, or particularly good voice-acting. But they do send you out the door with a wide open evolutionary skill-set that
morphs your character to your choosing, when you do the choosifying, and into a huge world worth exploring and fighting fighty things in.

I like Dragon's Dogma because... reasons. lol I like games... hah ha. Hanging off and hacking away at a giant ogre's head, as he flails crazily and threatens to launch me skyward off a cliff edge, while my buddy the knight is scratching at the thing's weapon
arm trying to dislodge the tree he's using as a club, and while my buddy the wizard is buffing us with magical magics...

... meep. S'kinda what you wished for in video games as a lil kid. If you can get past the disjointed and slightly jaded Japanese idea of a story... and just get to adventuring and dungeon crawling. DD is fun as hell. If you let yourself get
immersed in the great world designed in Amalur. KoA is fun as hell.

  14. The reason I hate DDKOA: Reckoning :DA?

1: No map. I mean you have a map but its a blank page and you can spend hours (which I did before I ditched the game) going all around trying to get to the next orange blip. Plus the fact that there are so many fetch missions but no fast travel, killed the
game before it even started for me.

2: Hanging off the biggies. Was great the first time, but then its the same thing over and over.

3: Team are pointless. You can save them but they can't save you? The 'f' is having a pawn mage if they can't even help you.

4: The most horrible dialogue I've seen since the 90's Japanese heavy games were around. Not to mention how they overkill the word 'Aught' with every single speech.

5: Craptastic story. I would have rather it been a Japanese story for westerners to enjoy, rather than a European styled story written by bad Japanese writers.

    The things I liked.

1: Create a player was great, and the create a pawn was even better.

I did try the KoA demo a long time ago and remember liking it. The thing that put me off for so long was that people said it was grind heavy. Even when a fanboy says that you have to be careful.

WALL OF TEXT WARNING... pffteh heh. Bold for Bullets.

    1. There is fast travel but you have to set it up with Port Crystals and Ferry Stones. The crystals serve as the destination and the Ferry Stones are the one-time use keys to accessing them. Crystals are already set up at
the hubs... Gran Soren and Cassardis.

The others you buy, find, or make and set in places you may frequent often. You can also carry and drop crystals anywhere, pick them back up, have your tank carry one, and port to and from it on fetch quests. You can buy Ferry Stones from merchants at 2K
    a pop.

I hate no-cost fast-travel in games. I like that this one is logical. Kinda like ye olde Neverwinter Nights. As for the map, I like that I have to map out a map. But there should always be an option to buy complete maps from merchants me thinks.

    2. The hanging off biggies thing is a cool feature but it doesn't carry the combat system on its own and shouldn't be dismissed as the sole draw. The combat around it is solid - IMO some of the most intuitive combat in any
RPG ever. Archery is tight, swordplay, the buffs of mages, moves that rely on pawns to help - like jumping off a pawn's shield onto a dragon's back, or holding an enemy for you to kill. Enemies have consistent weaknesses... s'kinda cool.

    3. Don't die and the team works great. lol Trying not to die is more fun than dying constantly and being revived constantly with no sense of cost and no sense of peril as long as one of the maximum of three members of your
party is up and able to revive the others. Meh. Healer support pawn FTW.

    5. Not gonna defend the way this story is presented. lol The core of it is actually pretty solid, but the stuff orbiting the main theme is just dire.
What there is of the cool stuff, learning why the 'dogma' is in the title, works really well. But the supporting cast and some of the 'romance' stuff is just beyond turd. Things pick up past the midway point though, with world/landscape/enemy
    changing events.

The game does something fairly unique on a second play-through too... I was surprised. But I doubt a great many bothered testing the strength of the 'dogma' by getting two play-throughs in... those that did got a cool climax with a...
"Oooh... wow?" And maybe also a... "Oooh sh-eet?" Depending how well they did on their first run.

-- Your complaints are totally valid though dude. {XD I don't blame you for ditching it. I was giving the game huge breaks the first time I played it. I think when I got to the quest chasing the griffon I'd started to come around to it.
Maybe.... six - eight hours in? I like what it does well a lot, so I forgive what it doesn't do so well. The Bitterblack stuff is great too because it plays to the combat/exploration
strengths, and the difficulty is turned up to 11. It's like playing a great version of an old game like D&D Slayer or something. Just venturing deeper for no other reason than to see what's next. {=D

    Aaanyhoo... *enters the rift*
