    Known Issue: Controller won’t connect


    I discovered the controller not connecting known issue and would like to add additional data I may have for the engineers.

    My son and I both own the XBox Series S. We both experienced issues with the Microsoft headset failing with the new controller ( may be a different issue). My son’s headset failed first, so he switched to a spare third party headset that connected to the 3.5 mm port. When it came time for him to replace the controller batteries, the controller would not connect with the console without a hard reset. Later, my Microsoft headset also failed, so I replaced it with a different 3rd party headset that connects through the 3.5 mm jack. Again, after replacing the controller batteries, the controller would not connect to the console without a hard reset.

    I’m curious if there exists a hardware issue with the new controller that is affecting the reconnect and/or causing issues with the Microsoft headsets (simple one-ear headset with microphone).

    There’s a known issue that’s being tracked and a fix is in testing currently in the Insider Program relating to controllers not staying connected. I wonder if the issue involves that.

    Same issue here, and I'm not sending my console back as this is apparently a widely known issue since September (coincidentally circa the Sept update).

    Issue occurs with multiple controllers, and the suggestions to play with the controller connected via usb are, IMO, not a solution.

    Could I know if the PS4 controller is connected via Bluetooth or USB?

    This question is asked because with USB connections there is a known issue.

    So, in case your PC has Bluetooth support, may I know if you tried connecting the controller in that way?

    However, if you're connecting the controller via Bluetooth, can you verify if a similar issue occurs after connecting the controller to a different device, like a mobile phone?

    If you're using a web browser to play cloud games, the Xbox Wireless Controller is currently the only officially supported controller. Other controllers may or may not work for cloud gaming in a browser.
