Kinnect Recognizes Me But I Get "Sorry, "User Name" " Message

I have two accounts on my XBox One.

I am the primary where the Gold membership is active and my son's is listed as a Family Member.

We have the Kinnect Sign in set up and all it takes for him is to stand in front of the thing and he's signed in.

For me, I keep getting the "Sorry, "User Name" " message...so it recognizes me but for whatever reason it will not sign me in.

So when I go to sign in, it asks for my 6 digit pin and my XBox Live Account password...it's EXTREMELY ANNOYING.

I tried messing with the settings but cannot find what is trigerring this behavior. I am also signed in while my son is also signed in and when I try to play a movie on the Amazon app, even though I'm the active profile, it asks me to authorize his user
to watch a movie that is outside of what he's allowed to.

The only way that stops is if I sign him out.

Any ideas of what is causing both behaviors?

As I haven't seen this before, I'm only spit-balling here; have you tried going into your profile and sign in settings and adjusting how you get signed in? I know that there are a few options, including auto-sign in upon powering on, auto-sign in upon Kinect
recognition, as well as options that require password confirmation for things. This could be your issue here.

 

"Sorry, Jim" Login Message

When I start up the Xbox One, I get a "Sorry, Jim" message. I then have go to Sign In, select my profile and enter the password. How do I fix? I tried deleting the profile and re-entering. It worked fine for 4-5 days only.

 

This sounds very much like you have Two Step Verification enabled on your account. If so, the sign in would fail and you'd be required to put in a pin for each login. You can disable this at
http://account.live.com by signing in once and then on the bottom left look for Manage Advanced Security. You may have to put your pin in once again just to turn this feature off.

The situation with your son's profile needing approval to watch a movie can easily be fixed at the same location while you're there.

Privacy and online safety settings can also be managed online through
http://account.xbox.com under Security, family & forums by selecting Privacy settings in the Privacy and online safety category. Here you can manage several profiles from one location.

You would select his profile and choose the appropriate Setting area for your console and enable as you prefer.

 

Where in http;//account.xbox.com do I do that? I can't find it.

In my XBox I have the "Check that it's me"...it does recognize me because it says "Sorry XXX".

Two step is not active at all. The issue is with the Xbox somehow.

 

Can I resurrect this? I'm having the same issue with me and my son. If I want to log him in it requires a full on xbox live password. 2-step is not active. Why does it recognize him but tell him sorry?
