Kingdoms of Amalur download freezes at first loading screen.

I've played it before and traded the game to gamestop. Then i saw it was on sale for $10 on XBL and figured why not run through this extremely fun game again.

Now onto the problem. Everytime I try to open one of my old save games, or even start a new game, it freezes at the same point on the very first loading screen. I already had all the DLC(Legend of Kel, Teeth of Naros, Online pass, Weapons/armor bundle) and
had the disc version downloaded onto my system. So i deleted all of the game files and old saves . Same problem. I even deleted the system cache to no avail.

I have no idea what the issue may be. I read on here(a KoA post from 2/1/2013) that I have to delete the online pass in order for it to work since the digital version already comes with the online pass. Does anyone else know if this is true or if it works?

I am currently waiting for my 3rd download of the game to install and will try it without the online pass. Any other suggestions would be very helpful.

KoA: Reckoning

I downloaded Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning off of Xbox Live on demand May 7th and every time I try to start a new game in it the game freezes in the first loading screen. I have tried re-downloading the game and it didn't help at all.

 

Anybody have the OnDemand version of Kingdoms of Amalur on their 360? (Resolved)

Does the game load for you? I can't get a single save to load for me, not even starting a new game. The game freezes about two seconds into the load screen; the console locks up and I have to do a forced reset. If you have the OnDemand version (not the disc version), mind checking if it loads for you?

I hope it's just my copy. I've downloaded it twice now and cleared the cache already.

Nevermind, it seems the source of the problem was the online pass. Just delete "House of Valor" from your downloads and the game works. Source.

 

I just picked this up and can confirm it's the online pass DLC that causes the problem. It's listed under "Knight of Valor" I believe in the storage screen... it's the 33 MB file. Delete that and the game starts fine.

I cannot confirm that the digital copy comes with the online pass built in however since I've not played it yet.

Is the weapons/armour bundle working for you? If so what do you have on your hard drive? (Related to the game I mean)

I can't seem to get mine to work...

 

Mauhadeeb -- Indeed that would be the question to ask. I've never played the game so I have no clue where to even start looking for the arena.

Alanzgr8 -- I responded to your other thread. Please do not hijack other people's threads in the future.

 

In reference to the weapons pack, that may not have been my original question, but it is now very much an unforseen issue. The weapons pack is also not working. The omniblades show up in the chest(you get them after completing the Mass Effect 3 demo) but
it is otherwise empty.

I'm really bummed about how poor this download has been so far. I will comment again when I reach the House of Valor to tell of what I've found about the Arena.

 

So after not using the XBOX for a few hours and playing again, I have a few parcels of new knowledge:

The download of Kingdoms of Amalur (now to be referred to as KoA forthwith) comes with the full Online Pass/The House of Valor Arena/Knights of Valor side quest line. There is absolutely no point in purchasing/downloading the Online Pass if you've purchased
KoA via download. In fact, having the online pass on your hard drive will cause the game to freeze at the initial loading screen rendering it unplayable.

As it pertains to the "Weapons and Armor bundle": This did not work for me at first and still doesn't in totality. After leaving the game and XBL entirely, for eight or so hours, I turned the game back on and loaded the saved game which was right in front
of the chest in Gorhart. The notification arrow above the chest was flashing. In it it was all of the items included in the "Might Bonus Pack". Nothing from the Finesse or Sorcery pack was in the chest.(I've never purchased any of the specific packs, mind
you. I have only purchased the Weapons and Armor Bundle, which includes all of the individual packs, and it worked fine on the disc version.)

This is very odd to me. Perhaps XBOX is fixing the problem one pack at a time. Perhaps the downloads are just taking some time to register.

Either way, I will continue updating this thread until all issues are resolved. When I figure out all the issues I will start new threads documenting everything individually and as a whole.

If you have anymore information on these universal problems, please post them.

 

Thanks for the updated info on this thread. Yesterday, I had googled this info and came across another thread, but this one is more accurate in dealing with the info.

WITH THAT SAID, I did contact support and the person told me that when I purchased it (about a week or two ago - Feb 2014), that Microsoft should've told me that there is a current issue we are to be aware about upon purchase. I DO NOT recall such a reference.
Nonetheless, support told me that they are currently working on the issue and I should check back in a few hours or a couple of days. I was also told they would refund, but that defeats the point of the downloaded game! Thanks, Mauhadeeb for your updates

UPDATE: Deleting the Online Pass, along with the other DLC made creating a new game STOP freezing. I am now able to play the game, thanks guys for the help!

 

I've found that that deleting all save games plus cache,plus game, plus DLC then doing a download of the game thru XBox market place, then the individual DLCs via the in-game contact for DLC seems to be working for me, though I'll wait and see what happens
when I download House of Valor. I'd also suggest, don't start a new game with all dlc contant installed- play main game till end of tutorial, save, then continue with same save once you've downloaded individual dlcs via game game option. That's working for
me so far...
