OK, so the title may be a bit... punny (and no, I didn't misspell a particular US state). But it's something I have a bit of a peeve about and I just wanted to get a feel for what others think about the use of voice commands, specifically while playing a
    game online.

To be more specific, does anyone find it annoying to be in a game and have 1 or more people all barking commands at their Kinect? "Xbox, record that!" - "Xbox, snap TV" -"Xbox, snap DVR" - "Xbox, snap party... invite party to game"... the list of commands
that are typically used during almost any gaming session can, and sometimes does, go on and on. It's worse when someone doesn't have their Kinect properly calibrated and have to repeat the same command multiple times before it works. Or when you have a party
full of people all using different features... it seems like sometimes there's more conversation happening with peoples' Kinect than there is with the people in the party.

Just out of common courtesy, I almost always use the mute on my headset when I issue voice commands. It just cuts down on redundant, non game or party related chatter and that way I'm not interrupting others' conversation.

So what do you do? Does it bother you when you're trying to have a conversation with 1 or more people and several more are "Xbox - do this" in the background? I kind of wish they could use an auto-mute feature with the "Xbox" command. If you're playing a
game and have your headset plugged in, you'd be auto muted as soon as your Kinect 'started listening' and would unmute when it stopped listening.

    :)

Nope doesnt bother me at all. I do try to mute my mic whenever I am saying anything other than Record That.

95% of the time i mute the headset before saying any command, and most of my friends that i game with do the same.

it'd be awesome if MS would make a universal gesture that when i'm in a game and i flip up the controller (like holding it in front of my chest with the bottom of the controller facing the TV), the Kinect would see that and automatically mute the party chat.

I mute my mic, only speak to someone when it's useful....

When someone talks too much (voice commands, about their life,...) i mute their mics.

But it did happen just a few times.

  5. @Zero, that's kind of why I thought that an auto mute when the Kinect starts listening would work well if it could be implemented... no need to remember a universal gesture and no need to remember anything for those who just don't think about it (or even
    those who just don't care).

  6. To be honest in the majority of games I play online most people are silent. I think people are too scared to talk to each other.

I also find it annoying when people start shouting commands at kinect. Though the perpetrators are usually friends I'm in a party with, not randoms in a multiplayer game. I always try to mute my mic whenever I need to issue commands.

You got to have some fun sometimes and if adults can't get use to kids on Xbox, then ~~. Just mute them if anyone gets annoying. Funny I don't see Kinetiquette in the Xbox Live TOC or COC. It's good to have good manners tho. It's not good to keep things
    bottled up.

  11. Well, for me, I haven't really had a choice to use good Kinetiquette...

I can't hear other people through my standard Xbox One headset very well due to my severe hearing loss, so I've been using my TB X42 headset from my Xbox 360 with the Kinect to chat. I've been having issues for weeks getting the headset to work properly
with the stereo headset adapter since I can't hear anyone, so I can't exactly mute it like everyone else can. If I could've I would've.

That's where the good news comes in. After weeks of experimenting with 2 separate chat adapters, other controllers, and an extension cable for the adapter - I finally solved the issue. I replaced the chat cable on my TB X42 and the headset is now fully functional
with the chat adapter. This means I will now be able to mute my headset while issuing voice commands... Kinetiquette... ;)

...well, I would if I hadn't used up all of my batteries through the headset. Kinetiquette... :(

Please donate all rechargeable NiMh AAA batteries to the GG Relief Fund. Kinetiquette... :p

Whats worse is when someone uses the Kinect, does voice commands, has their TV speakers too loud, and you got loud music in the background, and they don't change their Kinect settings to cancel out background noise by a certain %.

No one ever talks to each other when I'm playing BF4, I only here people shouting at Kinect over and over, Or people shouting at their own family members. Worse thing about Kinect is the fact you here someones whole family in the background.... then their
dog starts barking..... then their baby starts crying......

Yup, it's very annoying, girlfriends screaming at the boyfriend and music playing adds to that list.
