Kinectless Xbox To Have More Power

Real performance boost is only going to come from creative developers and better API's. This magical pool of reserved performance from Kinect is NOT going to make a 720p/30fps game suddenly jump to 1080p/60 butter smooth all the time. Forget about it.

And developers will always make their games for the lowest common denominator. So Kinect in games is pretty much done since not all consoles will have Kinect but games taking advantage of this "magic pool" will be also done since not all consoles will have
this "performance gain".

 

Had to add, the more I think about this thread the more I'm scratching my head why this is even a discussion. The problem with this whole scenario is that people are forgetting that the Kinectless Xbox One will STILL have the option for hooking up a Kinect.
So how are they going to suddenly just make the console absolutely Kinect incapable? The console will still be waiting there for a Kinect to be attached. All the resources will remain dormant but waiting to that pretty much makes this thread moot.

 

Agree, and the kinect actually shares the 10% time slot (not power) with apps and background tasks like party chat and snap. So it does not make sense to remove it, maybe reduce it like they previously mentioned to like 3%.

 

I'm pretty sure the code being used right now isn't as optimized as it could be. I'm also assuming that being said alot of the resources are being used to "brute force" things that could be done lighter, faster and better with optimized coding. So , in theory,
Kinect could get better while at the same time get lighter on the resources. But that needs to be a gradual thing. I think just waking up tomorrow and cutting Kinect's resources at the knees without having some optimizations in place first is a pretty dumb
move.

 

No i think what they are doign witht he dashboard is 2 options if you use kinect then u wilol get the dashboard that is there now if you dont use kinect then there will be easier ways to use things
