    According to an article on IGN the Xbox One that comes without the Kinect is supposed to return power to graphics processor which would allow publishers to get their games at 1080p. One question that I have is what would happen to people's console's that
    choose to keep the kinect? Will their console suffer from the graphics upgrade just because they decided to keep their kinect units?

    ^ Ugggg....... really. How can the power supply be an accessory? Really..... was it sold separately from the console? Mine came with a power brick.... maybe you have the new kinectless + power brickless version.....????

    The kinect

    Any developer looking for extra graphics power will not use the Kinect features in his game anyway so the Kinected consoles will utilize just as much power as the Kinectless version.

    Where is Iceman III when you need him ....

    Will you be able to upgrade your firmware and benefit from the extra power .....but will that leave the kinnect a lump of worthless plastic .

    Or can you keep it the way it is ...with less power ...but still use kinnect ..?.

    Will developers aim to make games with kinnectless xb1 's in mind ... will they be awful on xb1's that keep kinnect.

    Will there be an options to switch back and forth ...from kinnect to no kinnect?.

    No it measn the devs will have that 10percent extra power for the games it doesnt matter if you have kinect plugged in or not kinect can still be used but it just measn the devs get a bit more

  9. A 10% freeing of GPU specs that are alotted for gpgpu is not a 10% perfomance boost.

    Kinect is powered by GPGPU resource but it drives GPU performance down as The old 2011 GCN ARC in the x box 1 is not capable of true asynconous compute and has NO Dedicated memory pipleline to the ACE gpgpu cores for fine grain control

    GPGPU is used by certain parts of a gpu. Not an equal number of diffrent parts across a 10% playing field.

    Gpu's are comprised of Shaders, Rops, texture units, CU's and 2 other things i actually can't recall right now lol.

    AMD arcitecure also ahs "ACE" cores, These help drive gpgpu into a simpler tasks.

    GPGPU is only driven efectivly By 3 of the compenents I listed above. It will help perfomace sure, but not a full 10% like the knee jerk media is parroting. I fully beleive we have already seen the boost in games like titanfall, and upcomming games as early
    as worlfenstin (that uses a rage engine that scales resolution in real time to keep frame consistancy VIA a tripple buffer vsync like algorythim) and watchdogs.

    GPGPU is still in it's infant stages in terms of apllication in games. Phyicis based gpgpu is common, however gpgpu is capable of so much more and is a heavy focus for AMD, the R9 seris gpu and in extention The PS4 (that features the same amount of ACE cores
    and similar memory pipleline revision and Audio DSP to the 2013 line of amd's gpus)

    GPGPU 2013 works on spare nanosecond timings of the gpu refesh cycle (every 33 to 17 MS) and will be driving AI, Sound, CPU tasks like memoery decompression ram resoure managment, complex lighting frame timing's ect. The concept holds strong The R&D just
    needs to come to focus, It is barly used in game now. But will be used even in MS console for games in the future.

    I believe that developers were going to be able to rely on it with the always on-line thing, but I guess that went when the always on-line policy was reversed, it will probably only apply to on-line only games, like Titanfall.

    i'm with bstn617, giving the Kinectless version a little more of the resources will only alienate 4+ million early adapters.

    chances are they are just going with their original plan and freeing up 8% across the board while still holding 2% for the Kinect, because they want the people who are refusing to buy a X1 because of the Kinect, to buy a X1 without it, hoping they will see
    other people using it, and that the system navigation is better with it, then hopefully go out and buy it.

    I reckon that 10% will stay reserved incase you pick up kinect later on otherwise they will probably just use it in various behind the scene system features like a slightly faster snap etc

    If it boosted the games to 1080p and you couldnt do it without or the old consoles had a real noticable difference .... well thats 4 million new consoles they have to manufacture and ship out to replace obsolete machines that games wouldn't properly run
    on which means ultimately i guess developers would just dev the game for the old one and keep it as a standard for xbox because i am pretty sure there's no way in hell EA or Ubisoft etc will miss out on a potential 4 million customers for the sake of a couple
    of mill who may take up the new one

  14. The problem with the cloud is physics, Compute also dont work well with random Metrics (such as wireless vs none wireless, routers, ISP ect) on a low end consumer grade product that ahs to go to lowest common denominator

    MS demoed the power of the cloud and it was reviced lightly cause we know you can get perfomance increases off a server that is 20 meters away as thier is no high milliecsond delay and the data can be recvied before the next 17 milliseond GPU refresh.

    If MS had demoed GPU perfomance boosting persomfance from a server located 2000 miles away, everyone would have haralded them about how amazing it is, they would be on the cover of every tech magazine and newpaper! data doesnt travel as fast as MS wants
    to the low end consumer market. AI can be issues thru the cloud via dedicated servers but that is nothith we havent seen on consoles on mass scale before (even star wars battlefront on xbox and ps2 had that)

    The power of the cloud is nothing but smoke and mirriors PR speak.
