    Kinect won't start up; controller not connected


    The other day my Kinect stopped working. It basically doesn't turn on when the Xbox One unit is powered up.

    At the same time, my controller is no longer recognized... it lights up but can't connect to the Xbox.

    The only workaround is to physically unplug the unit from the back, then plug it in and power it up.

    It's happening with increasing frequency to the point I have to unplug it before each use.

    Any ideas?

    Xbox one unresponsive

    My xbox fitness app crashed mid workout and took me back to the home screen. Now my kinect won't work at all and neither controller is responsive. The box will still start up and show the home screen, but it will not do anything else. HELP!

    Faulty controller issue

    It seems there has been a lot of other gamers with the issue of connecting/disconnecting controllers. I bought a new controller because my original one disconnects constantly even with a usb cable and it doesn't matter what game I play they both won't
    stay connected. I also had a problem with my Kinect turning on and off all the time (which is away beng repaired). I now think the problems are related via the console itself. My Kinect disconnects, both of my controllers won't stay connected so the issue
    is obviously a faulty console which I think I'll be sending in with my Kinect. BTW, I have followed all troubleshooting tips with no results. I don't remember the 360 having so many issues on start up...

    I have a feeling this is a bug from the latest update. I'm having similar issues.

    Hi folks! Yes, the controller and Kinect problems are both issues which cropped up with the 1407 update. The engineers are definitely aware of these and are working to resolve them.

    In the meantime, rather than disconnecting and reconnecting Kinect, try doing a hard shut down (hold the power sensor on the console for 8-12 seconds, then wait for the power brick to turn solid orange.) When you start back up, the issues will be at least
    temporarily resolved. They may recur, at which point another hard restart will work until they are patched in the next update.

    As of yesterday everything seems to be working fine again. Probably an auto update... but not sure. But I'm glad I didn't have to send it for repair.

    Glad you're all set, Dieds! They're doing a great job resolving issues with the update program, so it seems like most things that crop up get fixed within one or two updates. It's ALWAYS nice to have something resolved without having to send it in for repairs!

    No Xbox display

    I also forgot to add that it won't connect to any other devices. My kinect won't turn on, my controller can't connect to the Xbox and I can't connect via Smart glass

    see the thing isn't really the cable it is that the xbox doesn't seem to fully start up. it turns on, but it doesn't even kick on my kinect or connect to my controler?

    The reason I won't connect it is because I have the first kinect and a handful of games...no one in my house uses the kinect any longer and the games that aren't specifically made for the camera (exercise, dancing) won't have anything new added to them other
    than hand signals and voice commands. In my opinion, if the camera were advanced enough, it should be all the console needs (no controller or headset required or needed)...but it will never replace the controller and headset so it's just another "get up and
    play" peripheral. My kids got a kick out of it but a year later and it's collecting dust just like the kinect 2.0 will be.

    I'm bumping this up because my Xbox One just started doing this yesterday. We turn it off, it turns itself back on within an hour. The screen is dimmed and won't light up even when we use a controller. Auto-sign-in is off as is the ability to turn on the
    Xbox using Kinect.
