    I haven't purchased the Xbox One yet but I am curious as to why the $399 console does not include the kinect. I have been under the impression that the Xbox One worked at optimum performance with the kinect.

    I can understand marketing trying to upsell a product but to not include a key feature of the console just to get someone to spend more money to have it is quite ridiculous. If I am wrong that the kinect isn't included please correct me.

    Xbox One w/o Kinect is $399 with a temporary price cut to $349 for the holidays.

    Xbox one with Kinect.

    I've had my Xbox One w/Kinect since November of last year. The only thing I use Kinect for is to say "Xbox record that". Today, I would purchase an Xbox One without Kinect.

    There are a lot of people out there who do not like or want to use the Kinect sensor. Because of this they balk at paying the regular price for the console. So it was decided that a 'basic' model would be released without the sensor for those who are interested.

    If you decide to purchase the $399 model then you'll be happy to know that a stand-alone Kinect sensor will be available for purchase this fall if you decide to upgrade.

    Hello!

    The Xbox One Kinect Sensor only works on the Xbox One (or the One S w/ the adapter). The Xbox 360 Kinect Sensor only works on Xbox 360.

    Well done MS, now remove Kinect.

    I would actually make Xbox One my day one purchase if they dropped the Kinect being mandatory and dropped the price to 399.99 w/o a Kinect.
