Kinect voice commands will not work since cortina installed.

As above really.

I have checked it is working, done the tests etc, and Xbox says everything is ok, unfortunately (however) it will not take any voice commands.

Cortina does not work in Canada yet. So no command via voice turns the unit off. Xbox on still works but it will no longer shuts the box down. Have to use controller or power on unit. Defeats the voice command and the kinesthetic not 100% working.
Microsoft please get Canada in the region for Cortana sooner than later.

Hey, so Cortana works a bit differently than the old voice commands, they no longer work. With everything you do with her start out the command with "Hey, Cortana" It's kinda like talking to siri. Just make sure she's turned on in the settings first.

 

So if I am understanding you correctly, I cant turn off xbox anymore with the voice command?

If so Kinect might as well be a door stop :/ (for this user)

 

You can turn Cortana off in your System settings then selecting Cortana Settings. Switching her off should give you the old "Xbox.." commands back

I will give it a go, I asked cortina not to be on anyway when it installed.

 

I have the same problem. And No, the old "Xbox" voice commands DO NOT come back when you disable Cortana. I opted out of Cortana when the update was installed, didn't have my voice commands back. Tried to opt in and then opt out again... I still don't have
my voice commands. This is ridiculous. Cortana SUCKS. And no, its not like talking to Siri because I don't have to say a long *** sentence to get my point across. Saying "Xbox On" is like talking to Siri and I want my voice commands back.

 

Remember Cortana is still being tested out etc. That is the point of the preview program, of course there will be bugs that you will have to deal with, that is what you enrolled for, testing them and reporting feedback to improve performance.

Go to your Settings - System Settings - Cortana Settings and ensure it is set too off, you will then be prompted to restart, after this you should have your Legacy commands back, try another power cycle and unplugging your Kinect and plugging
it back in if not. If you are still having a problem with that, report it via the feedback app on the console, and/or on the

Preview Program Forums.
