Kinect voice and start up

Every since the update 99% of the time my Xbox One will not turn on now with voice, if it does on that 1% it delays a long time before turning on. It will not connect to the internet still if my external hard drive is connected a issue Microsoft said it
solved. I have tried hard resets, unplugging the Xbox from the wall, clearing the cache to no avail. I have read where people have turned on Cortana, is this future integration part of the issue when it comes to the Kinect? My Xbox is slow and erratic when
it comes to performance and at times now shuts off on its own.

update without gamepad?

I 'think' the Kinect starts its boot-up from the dashboard. Seeing that the update is pushed onto you before the dashboard, I don't think there is a way around this without a pad. These two pages may help;

Hi fishbait1,

When you start up the party and your mic doesn't work, stick yourself in front of the kinect for a few seconds so it can recognise that you are holding the controller and it should then start picking up your voice.

I think it's related to the Kinect believe it or not. 2 updates ago it started with me. Kinect was not taking voice commands, screen would black out or lock up, Signal lost, take for ever to switch channels. I unplugged my kinect for some reason and
it stopped as soon as I plugged it back in it started again. could be a coincidence too.

I have no sound on start up. Cant access settings menu. Kinect wont hear voice commands and the text in the menus is all strange and foreign/virus looking!!!!!
