Kinect users and Xbox One X

Looks like I'm going to need one of these when I upgrade to Xbox One X....

The original Xbox One console has a dedicated Kinect port built into it. Even though it says for Xbox One S, Xbox One X probably was only on the drawing board when they wrote that. I think it should definitely work for Xbox One X.

The bad thing about it is it looks like it's extra chords, including a power adaptor, since the USB cable is not powerful enough to transmit power for Kinect. I really liked the simplicity with the original Xbox One console and it's Kinect port which is
powerful enough to supply Kinect with power. As long as it works for Xbox One X, I'm happy. Still got only 4 months left till the X comes out. I like it's design, and lets quote the specs for Xbox One Kinect and Xbox One X...

As for Xbox One X:

- 12GB GDDR5 @ 326GB/s bandwidth, 1,172Mhz 6 Teraflop GPU 40 compute units, 9GB available to games

- 2.3Ghz 8 physical cores processor

- 4k Blu-ray disc drive

- Sleeker and smaller than the Xbox One S

- Crafted ventilation vapor cooling

- 1TB HDD with 8GB flash, possibly for faster boot up. Especially after those monthly updates which require an automatic restart.



I also have Kinect Sports Rivals and Zoo Tycoon, which utilize Kinect. And it saves me entering in that 25 digit code to redeem stuff off Xbox Live when you could just wave a QR code at the Kinect which is more fun. I've done this a few times and nothing
could be more easier of fun. Want to sign in, securely, on your console? Forget about entering in a pin or password. The Kinect recognizes you and signs you in. You can use it to voice chat, send voice messages, voice commands, capture screen shots and short
record that clips. Skype video chat on your console which blows it up on your HDTV rather than on your phone or laptop.

Whilst GDDR5 has higher latency than DDR3, GDDR5 has a much higher bandwidth which is better for games. Xbox 360 runs on GDDR3 or something RAM, and Xbox 360's UI is very fluid and responsive.

Adapter for Xbox One S <-> Kinect

The support here is provided by other Xbox users, this is not Xbox Support.

The Kinect sensor and adapter are discontinued. If you want to use an Xbox One Kinect sensor with an Xbox One S or X you're going to have to buy one if you can find one.

 

Microsoft buying back my Kinect?

I'm expecting Microsoft will as they are a decent company. But also because Microsoft states on their website (Xbox One X | Xbox):

So there are three options I believe:

1. Microsoft are scammers as the Kinect will not work on the XBox One X at all.

2. The Kinect will work without hassle on my new Xbox One X. Well this isn't true unfortunately.

3. They made a mistake, can happen, and compensate Kinect users.

It is a bit of a pain having to use money to get an official accessory where you can connect your Kinect with your console. The original Xbox One console version has a built in dedicated port, without the hassle of extra wires and space and paying like $50
for an official accessory to connect it up. But I'll get use to it.

I know what I'll be doing when I get my Xbox One X, the Kinect will be going straight into the cupboard, haven't used it in ages (about the time Cortana got released for the Xbox One)
